Psychic TV originated in the early eighties from the legendary Throbbing Gristle, a band that accomplished revolutionary work for the industrial scene during the late seventies. With his “new” project and with a combination of industrial, electro, punk, noise, psychedelica and acid house, Genesis P-Orridge has reached a similar status, this time within the dance scene.

The song ‘Rap Dirty’, which was released by Clarence Reid aka Blowfly in 1965 (!), is considered within the hiphop scene as the first rap song ever. He wrote hits for Gwen McCrae and KC & The Sunshine Band and he worked with artists such as Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Fishbone. Famous pop stars like Beyoncé, Wu Tang Clan and P. Diddy used a lot of samples from his work in their own songs.

Some ZXZW week program highlights (16 till 21 September) are the world premiere of ‘Our Favourite Things’, Mark Hosler’s (Negativland) latest movie, and a series of classical music concerts in a squat as well as a Tekno party at the City Theatre of Tilburg by the squatting/free tek collective Wirwar.

Tickets for ZXZW are € 10,- each (service costs not included) for the entire weekend and are available at all Ticket Service Nederland sales points, in Belgium at Gigaswing (Hasselt) and Bilbo (Antwerp) and in Tilburg at 013 Boxoffice and cd-shop Sounds. You can also order your tickets online at www.ticketmaster.nl

ZXZW is an internationally orientated festival which aims at independent culture, with a focus on music. It intends to create a platform where artists, who otherwise would stay unnoticed, can present themselves to an audience, press and people from the music industry. ZXZW takes place from the 16th till the 23th of September on several locations in Tilburg.
