Personally, I felt 2009 was a rather mediocre year in music. Below are the 10 songs I voted for for Triple J's Hottest 100.
These are the songs I enjoyed listening to the most (and that will find themselves at the bottom of the countdown, probably, since they don't seem to be overly popular, or garnered as much attention as the more obvious songs on the list to choose from).
In alphabetical order:
1. Arctic Monkeys - Crying Lightning (love how progressively grown up their music has been getting)
2. Cloud Control - Gold Canary (this band's music always manages to bring a smile to my face)
3. Dizzee Rascal - Dirtee Cash (couldn't get enough of those 90's hooks! Dizzee's music is so fun!)
4. Fever Ray - If I Had A Heart (obvious choice. Fever Ray is definitely the album of the year for me. So dark and ambient)
5. N.A.S.A - Gifted (Ft. Kanye West/Lykke Li) (talk about collecting an awesome bunch of artists for this space-like tune)
6. Phoenix - Fences (probably my favourite song from Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix - so floaty and airy-sounding)
7. Sarah Blasko - All I Want (beautiful song by one of the most talented female vocalists in music)
8. Tame Impala - Remember Me (I'd say it's one of the few instances where the cover is better than the original. Awesome chunky guitars rocking out!)
9. Temper Trap, The - Science Of Fear (I like this song better than Sweet Disposition, tbh)
10. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Heads Will Roll (a great, dark, disco anthem)
