To my ears, the tracks you talk about don't sound deep or unique in any way. The Timelord and Black Arrow do. And I think you might be right about our tastes differing, particularly when it comes to trance music. On the other hand, I pretty much like all of the downtempo/ambient music you've listed.

On a different note, I really did like In the Heaven's Eye by Filteria. I usually don't like goa, apart from a few Astral Projection and Electric Universe tracks, so that was a nice surprise.
