'doublethink'

1) i read the news today, again. nothing happens in the world i consider nearly sane. president sez one thing then changes his mind, and nobody seems to know if and when he's ever lying...

*** doublethink, well, i guess it's true, at least it was last time that i looked. . .

2) i saw my ex-girlfriend, again. she asked if my broken heart was truly gonna mend. she said she's been a real good girl, and all those other boys, uh, they don't count no more...

b) and sometimes i wonder, is it a conspiracy?
and sometimes i wonder is it only me?
and sometimes i know, but if i think twice it's gone,
and it leaves me feeling somehow i've lived all this before.

3) they changed the news today, again. the president-elect has become my ex-girlfriend. she tells the nation she's gonna do it right. then she sez to me on t.v., 'forget what i said last night.'...
