Amy Winehouse gewinnt 5 Awards! + Kanye West, Rihanna und Maroon 5 ausgezeichnet
Die britische Sängerin gewinnt bei den 50. Grammy Awards insgesamt 5 Preise, u.a. für „Record of the Year“ und wird für ihre Live-Performance aus London gefeiert. Kanye West wird mit 3 Grammys ausgezeichnet. Weitere Gewinner sind Maroon 5, Ne-Yo, Common, Eagles und Rihanna.
Es war ihr großer Abend: Sie war sechsmal nominiert – und Amy Winehouse räumte einen Preis nach dem anderen ab, bevor sie nur von Herbie Hancock in der finalen Kategorie gestoppt wurde. Mit insgesamt 5 Grammys ist Amy Winehouse die Königin des Abends! Sie konnte zwar nicht in Los Angeles anwesend sein, obwohl in letzter Minute die Visa doch ausgestellt worden war, aber Amy Winehouse performte live via Satellit ein Medley aus „You Know I’m No Good“ und ihrem nun Grammy-gekrönten Hit „Rehab“.
Um 4:41 Uhr unserer Zeit sang Amy vor einem exklusiven Publikum in London, darunter Papa Mitch und ihre Mutter – und durfte Minuten später auch schon den nächsten Grammy entgegen nehmen. Als „Record of The Year“ verkündet wurde, stürmten Amys Eltern die Bühne und umarmten ihre sichtlich überraschte und gerührte Tochter.
Rührend und bewegend war auch die Live-Performance von Kanye West, die er seiner verstorbenen Mutter widmete. Mit den drei Preisen u.a. für „Rap Album Of The Year“ und „Best Rap Solo Performance“ hat Kanye seine HipHop-Krone nun endgültig sicher. Common wurde für seine Collabo mit Kanye bei „Southside“ aus seinem aktuellen Album „Finding Forever“ ausgezeichnet.
Neben Amy und Kanye wurde u.a. auch Maroon 5 ("Best Pop Performance by A Dup Or Group with Vocals" ) und Rhianna („Song of the Year“, „Best Rap/Sung Collaboration“) ausgezeichnet. Ne-Yo gewann mit „Because of You“ den Grammy für „Best Contemporary R&B Album“. Die legendären Eagles krönten ihr Comeback mit einem Grammy für „Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals“. Stephen Marley erhielt für „Mind Control“ die Statue für „Best Reggae Album“.
