trying of my first article in english, after the french one :
Sur l'album Realism
Il est vrai que le groupe Magnetic Fields ne sont pas vraiment, voir pas du tout catalogués dans le style Voyou: monsieur Meritt et sa bande préconisent le tout doux et le romantisme dans leur rock indé. Leur album volumineux 69 Love Songs(qui auraient peu aussi s'appeler "tout pour les câlins") en est un très bel exemple.
Donc avec Realism, sorti fin 2010 (moi écouté seulement à mi-2011), on oublie les positions fantasques (ou non) et vise le noyau familial.
Bons sentiments et guimauves suintent de ce nouvel album, très "joyeux Noël" (Everything Is One Big Christmas Tree ou encore We Are Having A Hootenanny)
Du coup, comme pour une crise de foie due à une indigestion plus ou moins appréciée de chocolat, on sature vite de chansons trop mielleuses dans la première partie de l'album.
Je rêve même à ce stade de l'écoute de faire une diète sévère.
Avec beaucoup moins d'entrain, j'écoute alors la seconde partie de l'album, avec des sonorités mélangées entre The Divine Comedy (Seduced And Abandoned) et happy flower des années 70' orientalisant (Painted Flower et The Dada Polka). Je me laisse alors bercée, oui exactement, comme une berceuse d'enfant, sur le bateau du dernier titre From A Sinking Boat.
Ce dernier titre , me parait d'ailleurs intrus dans cet album…
Si ce politiquement correct est ironique de la part de Stephen Meritt, il ne m'a pas du tout convaincu et me résous à attendre la prochaine production de 2012 dont Quick! me ravie déjà.

About the album Realism
It is true that the band Magnetic Fields are not really, not at all cataloged in the style Thug: Mr. Merritt and his band advocate very soft and romantic in their indie rock. Their large album 69 Love Songs (which also would not be called "all for cuddling") is a fine example.
So with Realism, released in late 2010 (I only listened to mid-2011), we forget the fantastic positions (or not) and look on a Family Life.
Good feelings and marshmallows oozing from this new album, "Merry Christmas" (Everything Is One Big Christmas Tree or We Are Having A Hootenanny ).
So, like an upset stomach due to indigestion more or less preferred from chocolate is saturated quickly too honeyed songs in the first part of the album.
I even dream at this stage of listening to a strict diet.
With much less enthusiasm, I listen while the second part of the album, mixed with sounds from The Divine Comedy (Seduced And Abandoned) and 70 years of happy flower 'Orientalizing (Painted Flower and The Dada Polka). I let myself be lulled then, yes exactly, like a lullaby to a child, on the boat the last title (From A Sinking Boat).
This title also seems to me like an intruder in this album …
If this political correctness is ironic from Stephen Meritt, anyway he did not at all convinced myselff and let me waiting for the next production of 2012 whose Quick, I already delighted .
