Fuck fuck FUCK! One of my absolute top musical heroes has died. A truly unique musical talent. Gutted. Totally fucking gutted. I still remember bringing home The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn as a kid, and sticking it on while I lay back on the bed and looked at the celing. It hit me like a lightning bolt, I'd never realised music could be like that, and it helped set me off on a life-long obsession with music that existed outside the mainstream.
I don't know what more to say, I just feel like sitting and bawling my eyes out to be honest. I'll admit to being one of those totally obsessive Syd Barrett fans who has EVERYTHING Syd ever went near.

The thing that strikes me is that this man gave the world such beautiful and original music, and in return he ended up with a pretty rough existance. 60 is a stupidly young age for him to leave us. It really isn't fair.
