Yesterday, I was at my 4th Kaizers Orchestra gig. And maybe it was even the best!
The band was in such a good mood that it was unbelievable.
Already the opening act, Micke From Sweden, was highly amusing. His songs were really cool, but it were really his stage antics which made it so good. Chasing and shooting rats which travelled inside the piano from Holland, making it snow, tap dancing… and so on!
And then the Kaizers…
Like always, they entered the stage to Tom Waits' Russian Dance
Again, they played a highly energetic set, a really good mixture from all the albums. The only song I missed was Delikatessen, but that's mostly because it has my name in it! ;)
The crowd was really into it, responding to all the usual, but never boring, chants and shouts with the band.
So I was there, front row, singing and screaming my heart out. This band is such a blessing and I really don't want a cure against the Kaizers virus!
The setlist had some real surprise for me, like Veteranens Klage and especially, finally Evig Pint…
Before playing Dieter Meyer's Inst., they did a spontaneous cover of Johnny Cash's On The Road Again…
The show ended with the traditional Gypsy Finale.
They played a really long set… over 2 hours…
Janove had to be pushed and pulled from the stage by Geir and Terje… and I didn't want it to be over either, even if I was completely exhausted at the end.
Hallelujah!
Saved again!
