Sorry for the...well, no reply I suppose. I still scrobble to the site but don't really bother posting or anything these days. But I saw your Shout and just wanted to say a couple of things...firstly you should totally move the Melbourne. It is easily the best city in Australia. If you do move to Melbourne you really CAN'T support Brisbane...that would be just plain silly. Sounds like you had a great time so I'm glad Australia did the right thing by you. Trust you and yours are doing well.

G'day mate, good to hear from you. What do you need to know? I'll try and be of assistance where I can. I'll let you in on a secret though, I'm not born and bred Victorian...I'm from SA originally. LOL

Nice! I've been reconnecting with some old friends and being more sociable myself. I have no problem hanging out with myself and not having a life, because I am a bit of a lone wolf type, but it's good not to turn into a total hermit. I do a lot of walking, hiking and cycling, but I really need to get fit myself as well. I've got a few things I need to work on. ;) Anyway, thanks for stopping by the group. I know you're a busy man, but we do miss you!

So, I totally forgot about Schroedinger's Tampon until just now. How I managed to forget, I haven't the slightest, but I vow to never forget again! xD MAN, I've missed this place... And you!

Well cowboy, everybody is someone's weirdo! Do you spend a lot of time at a desk? Improving your posture can ease back pain a lot. I had lower back pain a few years ago, and found that walking with hands clasped and resting in the small of my back pulled my shoulders back and straightened my spine. It helped the pain a lot. But if you have an injury obviously don't take my advice! I hope you feel better soon. :)

Well, I'm afraid to say a *lack* of sleep and tramadol aren't two things that usually feature in the same sentence, so this is only adding to your weirdness. ;P Bad back or plague? Oh well that's good, (the not disappointing you bit, not having the plague). I tend to listen to a lot of artist stations. It's been The Disturbed radio the last few days.

Hi Lee, thanks for the shout. I agree, you are indeed weird. Do you mean 'The Upstairs Room' by The Cure? I assume that's what you're talking about, but it was Danica that submitted it to the 100 list, not me. However, I am honoured to have you grace my profile page. :D I'm not a big Cure listener myself, I've only scrobbled them 11 times and 'The Upstairs Room' is not a track I knew prior to the list. I quite like The Birthday Massacre though, their Cure influence is easy to hear.

Miss Nu is so so ready to be on holiday! My weekends are spent soaking up the sun and lounging from one end of the pool to the other :D and most of my week trying not to slap the men in my office silly! You've reminded me to check out the bands lined up to perform at Kirstenbosch Gardens with your talk of bands! :D go you!

I hope it's not going to be difficult for everyone else to top the awesome birthday present you've managed to secure for yourself there! :D LOL...never thought of it like that before...at least I'm getting paid to deal with dimwits...I will now though. At least it'll keep my hand from itching to slap them upside the head. You can have my food....but you'll have to let me have some cupcakes then!

Power naps Lee....power naps! Although how you'd manage that with painkillers I don't know because almost everything knocks me out. Misery loves company :D I've been trying to go on holiday since December last year....hahaha....I suck at it. I do have a whole week off next week and then 4 weeks in December/Jan....I cannot wait.

2 freebie AP tracks on her website by the way. I'm not sure if it's all a bit too poppie actually. I think I need more time.

Ah, Can and GB!YE are two favourites - I love my Krautrock and my 'post' (another strange term!) rock. :) Thank you for the recommendation of Kyuss, and for listing those other acts. I'll be sure to check them out - it's been a while since I've done some proper research into unfamiliar music.

No, really! Well actually I can't say that I recall seeing anyone else listening to them either. Nothing to complain about the rest of your music taste either - cheers!

Certainly not a cop-out - the lines are a bit blurred! I'm not really sure how I'd define 'progressive' personally - I just have a working definition of 'Any Popular Music That's Normally Regarded As Being Pretentious'. :P You mention that you like a few artists that may or may not be defined as being 'progressive' - any particularly prominent figures there?

I hope you haven't forgotten your friend down at the bottom of the planet! the friend whose sunshine you are stealing! :( You'll be glad to know that I am starting to bake my own cupcakes on a fairly regular basis....well when i'm not consumed with work that is! pretty soons I'll have the decorating down too! Hope things are good with you sunshine?

Good choices, particularly the Genesis/Gabriel. I've never listened to prog metal, though - I have something of a prejudice against metal, sadly. :P Any artists you'd recommend aside from the ones you've mentioned?
操作

FarqyofFib
Ah, am I right in assuming that you're quite a prog fan in general? If so, are there any particular artists or album that you're fond of? Sounds like an interesting field of work, certainly - hope all goes smoothly. :)

One of us bugged out the Cat thread I think. I'm gonna blame you with all your wood pictures. Hope that's ok. :)

I'm quite well, thanks - the written portion of my English coursework is complete, which makes me a very happy bunny. ;P I decided to celebrate the occasion by blowing some of my savings on prog rock albums and spending several days living on chocolate muffins - great fun at first, but today's headache has hampered my efforts somewhat. Good to hear you've been well. :) What sort of work is it you're involved in at the moment? Is it a contract-type thing?

Oh, best wishes regarding the bike. ;P I'm hopeless with those too - I'm pretty much incapable of keeping the thing upright. :P Haha, railway-inspired literature is a rare find, sadly - the closest thing I've ever found is John Betjeman.

Why, that sounds manageable enough to appeal even to me. ;P I suppose it would ultimately be in my best interests to put together an exercise regime that involved something other than the occasional stroll - I just tend to avoid it as a result of being a) lazy, and b) ungraceful. :P Still, there has to be something other than running - if my friends and relations saw me jogging around the town, they'd probably think I was having some kind of emotional crisis. ;P Haha, I don't mind English at all as a subject - existential/airy-fairy elements can occasionally be a welcome break from all the regularity and predictability of rail classification systems. ;) I just doubt I could manage the sort of focus that would be required to study it successfully at university level: I'm not passionate enough about the subject to turn it into a career, and as a result there'd be no obvious work-related incentive to keep me going.

FarqyofFib
Ah, well, I hope you succeed in attracting potential employers and thwarting the dastardly estate developers, in that case. ;) Never one for running, personally, unless it has some obvious and immediate benefit (e.g. enabling me to catch a bus). Far too undignified, I fear. ;P I'm studying English at the moment - soon to be moving on to other things, though. Not something I'd really want to pursue to a higher level, I think. Still, it checks a box. :P

Quite alright! One would be correct. :) Busy, though - final assessments for my course are keeping me busy. How about you?

I see! Well, I don't really have much knowledge about reggae subgenres other than roots reggae and dub - and even with them, it's a fairly sketchy overview. But I'll try. ;) With regards to roots reggae, there's the obvious example of Bob Marley and the Wailers - Catch a Fire is a favourite album of theirs. I also like Peter Tosh, a member of the Wailers and a successful solo artist in his own right - Equal Rights and Legalize It are two great albums of his. With regards to dub, some personal favourites are Keith Hudson (a sort of precursor to dub), Augustus Pablo (roots reggae artist who went on to do some notable dub records), King Tubby, Scientist and Mad Professor. Regarding albums, I'd recommend Rockers Meets King Tubby in a Firehouse (King Tubby/Augustus Pablo collab.), Scientist Rids the World of the Evil Curse of the Vampires (Scientist), and The African Connection (Mad Professor). There's also Lee 'Scratch' Perry, of course, but I'm not as familiar with his work.
