As a kind of summary of my listening and reviewing activities of the past weeks, I would like to make a ranking list of the studio albums of Alanis Morissette. Some of the songs and albums are long time favourites, while others are just recently discovered. This list just shows how I think about them today, and may change over time.

1. Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie (1998)

It was hard to make a choice between this album and the number 2, because I love them both so much. At the moment, this album wins. It is a dark and experimental album with very great epic lyrics.

2. Jagged Little Pill (1995)

Her very strong international debut album, of which millions of copies were sold over the past 15 years. A pure and original album about very personal feelings and thoughts. This album always gives me nostalgic feelings, hearing all those great songs again.

3. Under Rug Swept (2002)

Although there was a big gap between this album and the number 1 and 2, it grew on me when I listened to it more often. This album is different from her earlier work and has a more accessible pop sound.

4. Flavors of Entanglement (2008)

Her most recent album surprised me in a good way. Together with Guy Sigsworth she made a more experimental and electronic album. The overall subject is the sadness after the end of a relationship and how she found her way back.

5. So-Called Chaos (2004)

Her least good album in my opinion. All of the songs have kind of the same catchy pop-sound. It is a very happy album, written when she was happily in love. Good for her of course but not so good for the songs.
