So, Sleater-Kinney have gone on "indefinite hiatus." I am a little worried about the need to make an official announcement about this decision; their fans know their situation and if they didn't make an album for a couple of years we wouldn't be calling for their heads or anything. You probably wouldn’t guess it by looking at my Last.fm stats, but I do like drum n’ bass quite a lot. Last night I went to see some of the biggest artists in the genre, including Roni Size, Andy C, DJ Marky and DJ Zinc. These DJs along with Dynamite MC, Stamina MC, MC GQ and SP:MC have have teamed up for The FourFront Tour which has been making its way around the UK. I've been listening this afternoon to the remaster of The Scream. I've not listened to this album properly in a long time and I'm happy that I still really like it. It still sounds great; the remastering certainly brings out the magnificent rhythm section of the original band, especially the drums which were an important element in the Banshees early recordings.

I find it odd to listen to Siouxie and the Banshees these days; they're very much evocative of a certain place and time for me. As a disaffected, bored teenager their sound spoke to me in a way…

I saw the video for The Futureheads new single "Skip To The End" today. I found myself really enjoying it. Perhaps I was just in the mood for some la la la-ing. "Area" is good for that too.

They are so huge now. I remember seeing them before their first album came out in the wee Camden Barfly (that must've been over two years ago now). They were a great live band in such close quarters, and it was clear to everyone there that they were going to explode. I'm glad I saw them when I did.

I went to see Akron/Family last night and, well, all I can say is WOW.

It took a bit for them to get organised before the show. There were some sound problems and the sampler wasn’t feeding into the DI properly, but as the gig was in a brand-new venue (it was the first night!), I think a lot of that was teething problems with the sound system and figuring out the balance in the room. I've been an 'Indie Kid' for a long time, but I've always had quite diverse musical tastes. Recently, as I've been a bit bored with guitars, I've been digging out different kinds of music to listen to. Most crucially, I'd nearly forgotten how much I like IDM.
