So girlybat, what do you think of the new Quasi record? In many ways, "Mole City" feels like a long awaited followup to Featuring "Birds". I am really loving it. "You Can Stay But You Gotta Go", "See You On Mars", "Blasted", "Chumps of Chance", "Bedbug Town", "The Goat", "Geraldine", "Double Deuce", "Dust of the Sun", "An Ice Cube in the Sun", and "The Dying Man" feel like classic Quasi songs to me. I also love that "Mole City" is the first Quasi record since "The Sword of God" with a Janet Weiss solo vocal track. Her singing on RIP is so pure, and beautiful---in my mind it might even top her previous cuts "Tomorrow We'll Hide", "Two by Two" and "The Curse of Having It All". Hearing Sam sing about his beloved "nothing" on "Chumps of Chance" brings a smile to my face. Now 6 out of the last 7 Quasi LPs include "nothing"("Nothing from Nothing", "It Don't Mean Nothing to Me", "It's Raining", "Nothing, Nowhere", "Beyond the Sky", "Everything & Nothing At All", and "Chumps of Chance).

Thanks. Todd Snider has an album coming out next month, apparently titled Agnostic Hymns & Stoner Fables... should be good.

haha I just noticed the Ray Charles song "Let's Go Get Stoned." I've heard Joe Cocker singing it... had no idea it was performed by Ray Charles.

OK. Travelling all over the state, hopping out of the car at times to do some work, heading to the hotel, staying out of trouble... that's pretty much it.

I've recently watched some Kate interviews from the 70s and 80s and found the poise demonstrated in them (and I mean in all of them) to be impressive. And this is particularly so since my impression of her has been that of someone who is borderline neurotic. Just amazing... or as John Lydon (Johnny Rotten) is said to have described her "f'n brilliant." ...glad to be out of the rain!

Hey! So, I noticed that you're a huge fan of Quasi! I was wondering, how would you rank their albums? Which one is your favourite?? I've given this a lot of thought, and would say: The Sword Of God>Featuring "Birds">American Gong>When the Going Gets Dark>Field Studies>R&B Transmogrification>Early Recordings>Hot S**t
