What a Fool Believes-- WHY?!

I would like an explanation as to why, as of Monday, I have become obsessed with the song What a Fool Believes by The Doobie Brothers. It was as if I awoke and that was now my favourite song, which makes no sense because I never really listened to it much before.

(This is what happened Monday morning:)
*BZZBZZ* (the sound of my alarm going off)
ME: Ugh, I still feel sick. Canoeing and getting drunk wasn't a good idea.
WAFB: Good morning, Heather! I'm "What a Fool Believes" by the Doobie Brothers and I'll be your favourite song for at least this week!
ME: Why? I've never given much mind to you before.
WAFB: Ah, that's true. But I've been watching you…
ME: That makes no sense… But okay!

Imagine my delight when I found that I own a compilation album (Bridging the Distance) that includes a pretty cool cover of that song by Lackthereof. I'm not sure if I like Lackthereof's other stuff too much, but his cover version of What a Fool Believes is pretty fucking sweet.

Also, is it actually "proper" to tag it as a Doobie Brothers song? Yes, it's on their album (and therefore I have it tagged "The Doobie Brothers" as the artist) but when they play it on the radio (and, yes, they play the version off of the Doobie Brothers' album) they always announce it as "'What a Fool Believes' by Michael McDonald"– they never mention the Doobie Brothers. Pft, I'll keep mine tagged as The Doobie Brothers.
