- tripling of drinking speed

i'm glad i was there. even if she did cheekily forget the encore.

on 30th oct, i was perched on top of an amp at the back of the glee club watching bat for lashes, and this is what i learnt:

* brandy helps your singing voice.
* when there's a drum machine nearby, a salt n pepa interlude is inevitable.
* the people of birmingham need to practice their melancholic howling and handclaps.
* phat bass and a broom handle is a winning combination.
* a tiny venue and spookily quiet audience may lead natasha to start singing snippets of
we gotta get out of this place and playing…

i played Until We Felt Red to a few people last week, and it wasn't appreciated much by my housemate, who thought it was "grating"… but i seem to be drawn to the same things about the song that made him dislike it, the unexpected and sometimes dissonant direction it takes.

i'm fascinated by what causes people (me) to enjoy dissonant music, when we seem to be hardwired to like consonant, harmonious tunes.
