I have less to report this year. Not enough for a full 100, next stop down is of course 69. My music listening did not have a clear direction this year; no single style that I followed comprehensively. There were many small journeys though. This year was more album oriented for me than others so I'll start with them.

Total Loss, and my forays into r&b
If you'd told me a few years ago that an r&b inspired album would be my favorite album this year, I would have laughed at you. But how we change. I loved Total Loss deeply last year and it continues to resonate with me now with Aaron Swartz's death. The beginning of the album with sounds that could have been on Selected Ambient Works Vol. 2 gives me goosebumps.

State Of Trance
sharevari sent me the following Sunn Jellie remix and then I was overtaken by a desire to learn about trance. Thanks to Z-soldier for going along with me on this trip. We made a proper best-of but here are just a few higlights.

Eisiges Licht: neofolk wanderings
qwallath's mixcloud neofolk mix (this one) created in me a bizarre obsession for all things neofolk esp. the German variant of it. I needed to assemble the entire Eis und Licht catalog and everything ever done by Allerseelen. On the way I found things that were not neofolk at all such as Strawberry Switchblade, the Russian faerie folk band Caprice and the curious French faerie music label Prikosnovenie.
