First Half of 2009 - Most Played

(Edit 18th June: I've just realised that I should have done this at the end of this month, so this info is actually only for the first 5 months of 2009. I'm an idiot. O__O)

28/12/2008-01/06/2009 -
Stats collected using troublewithdreams.com/scrobbler

Total Tracks Played: 4800 (31.2 per day)

Artists:
# 1. (1) Animal Collective: 305
My new favourite band. Currently 4th in my overall charts but will probably be higher by the end of the year.
# 2. (2) Radiohead: 236
A staple of my musical diet. Been number 1 in my charts for as long as i can remember. I may own all their albums but I'm still finding great Radiohead music through various b-sides and out-takes.
# 3. (3) James Yuill: 228
A relatively new artist that I can't seem to stop listening to. Folktronica they call it, damn catchy.
# 4. (4) Penguin Cafe Orchestra: 151
Modern classical music. Very easy to listen to and great to work to. Pity they're not still making music.
# 5. (5) Röyksopp: 134
Pretty run of the mill electronica band. Peaked with Melody A.M. and still come up with the odd good track. 'Happy Up Here' was the diamond in the rough that was Junior. Hoping for better from Senior.
# 6. (6) Coldplay: 106
Can't really go wrong with Coldplay. Really enjoyed Viva La Vida and their previous three albums all still get plenty of plays.
# 7. (7) Sigur Rós: 89
A truly astonishing band whose songs are incredibly emotive and absorbing. Theyd be higher if their songs weren't nearly all 7-9 mins long. Never boring.
# 8. (8) Eugene McGuinness: 74
Odd voiced Eugene has enjoyed only limited success so far. Hes perhaps something that isn't something thats to everybody's taste, but the eponymous debut album is worth a listen. It can grate on you after a while though.
# 9. (9) The Boy Least Likely To: 70
A band I happened to stumble across a while back. Its nice to get away from all the seriousness once in a while. :)
# 10. (10) Black Rebel Motorcycle Club: 65
Back to the seriousness and this band can be just that. Some of their best songs are very melancholic. Loved Howl and the associated EPs. I don't really care for their rockier stuff.
# 11. (11) Enya: 62
Just nice to unwind to.
# 12. (12) Air: 61
Air have been a little quiet of late. Don't know if they have anything in the pipework, but nevertheless they're receiving good playback from me.
# 13. (13) Franz Ferdinand: 50
Still haven't been bothered to listen to their new album fully. I did like 'Ulysses', which is where most of these plays came from but its starting to get a little boring now.
# 14. (=13) Tim and Sam's Tim and the Sam Band with Tim and Sam: 50
The gimmicky name is a bit annoying because they're actually a great little instrumental band. Deserve more publicity than they get.
# 15. (14) Bloc Party: 47
Still receiving most of their plays from Silent Alarm. One of my favourite albums. The other two don't even come close to matching their debut.
# 16. (15) The Flaming Lips: 45
I'm beginning to lose interest in the flaming lips. They have a charm about them, but their juvenile wackyiess doesn't really speak to me anymore.
# 17. (16) DeVotchKa: 42
I purchased How It Ends some months ago and was surprised to hear such an eclectric range of music featured on just one album. Every song has its own distinct feel. It is very replayable.
# 18. (17) Zero 7: 40
More lounge music. Was a recommendation by a friend so I got When It Falls but I found most of it a little boring.
# 19. (18) The Good, The Bad & The Queen: 39
They're starting to slip now. They became a minor obsession when the album was released in January 2007. Since then, nothing more has come from the nameless band and the album has become overplayed and is no longer enjoyable. Still faintly enjoy some of the live editions.
# 20. (19) Boards of Canada: 38
More instrumentalism. Boards of Canada are primarily here because i purchased 'Music Has The Right To Children' and had not much more new music to listen to. Decent enough but nothing special.
# 21. (=19) Lemon Jelly: 38
More electronica. This time its a little more joyous. I go through phases of really loving this band. Am currently enjoying '64-'95.
# 22. (20) The Strokes: 37
A band I listen to regularly. Currently clinging to 10th in my overall charts but as they've not released anything new in a while, they're likely to drop.
# 23. (21) Fuck Buttons: 36
Very different from anything else in my music library but very addictive. An experimental drone/noise band, with distorted screaming added in for good measure. Not as sleazy as they sound.
# 24. (22) Athlete: 35
I don't really know how they got in here. I haven't purposely listened to athlete for ages, except to play 'In Between 2 States' (A funky little instrumental). Thats probably where these plays have come from. that and arbitrary shuffle plays.
# 25. (23) Kings of Leon: 34
I'm beginning to dislike Kings of Leon now they've become so popular. Only By The Night was a bit of a let down.
