Thanks for the shout back. Re-reading my shout about Clayton-Thomas I'd have to say it was rather judgmental in tone or self-righteous or whatever. Your history of guitar lessons with a former trombone player conjured up some humorous imagery ... perhaps because one might observe that I play like I had taken lessons from a trombone player! I did check the bio for Clayton-Thomas on Last.fm after I shouted you and it seems he is still making music. His presence in the performance I saw was very powerful, but on some later releases he/they sounded tired or uninspired. Janis Ian sang on an early album, "Oh, that awful fight, to keep the spirit bright".

You wondered who sang lead on Blood, Sweat and Tears "I Can't Quit Her"? I believe it was Al Kooper - this recording coming from their first album "Child is Father to the Man". While Kooper founded BS&T, he only lasted for their first album. David Clayton Thomas and some of the original members of BS&T were Juliard School of Music trained and they viewed Kooper as lacking in "proper training" (my choice of words). Check out Kooper's bio on Last.fm/Wiki ... he now teaches @ Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. As for Mr. Clayton-Thomas, he wrote his own music which he was forced to dance to after being charged with having sex with minors (groupies). Yeah, it was the '60's and I was there, too, but I think one can draw his own conclusions. I saw BS&T in performance after release of their second album (Clayton-Thomas's first effort) and it was stupendous.

Thanks for accepting. I thought I should add you after I kept seeing your avatar in a lot of the songs I've been listening to. I am nowhere near Buffalo and sadly do not get to take in many of their games, but I still try to catch them every time they are in town. Great Library!
