Yeah I hear he's scored in almost every single game he's played this season, and after seeing clips of him in form he looks like a monster. Who would you replace Walcott with? I can't think of any quality wingers who I've heard are considering transfer soon. Haha you just hate all the giant clubs dontcha? Although I will say I felt they were playing extremely arrogantly. I felt bad for Dante...Unlike Xabi Alonso and Boateng he's not a pivotal player for Bayern so I'm betting he's gonna be benched for a while.

Ahhh okay. Well I haven't much to say there since all I've read on him personally have been infrequent, terse comments. I actually did know a little bit about Porto's 2004 season--they won the champions league that year if I'm not wrong. And they're not doing so bad now...three mistakes on Bayern's defense have them up 3-1 in the frist leg...who would've guessed.

I want Atletico to win but Barcalona is probably my favorite team. Does that make sense? And aye on Neymar, the midfield, and the defence, although in Neymar's defence he's played most of the last season fairly well. Still before this last game against PSG it seemed like he damn near lost his mind. I think it's gonna be a while before you can match the likes of Xavi and Iniesta in their prime though, the next generation of great midfielders I think is fairly young, still in their 20s and such. I feel like it's just the age of wingers and forwards, although there are a few exceptonal defenders (the likes of Thiago Silva, Lahm, Kompany) I think the vast majority are just not very impressive.

I'll give them a chance, I'm always willing to learn about something new. And I agree. I was actually in an Irish pub during the secong leg against Monaco where it was playing (as it was St. Patty's day if I remember correctly), frustrating to say the least. Atletico's win by Fernando Torres's penalty cheered me up as I always like to see the old boy do well since it's so rare these days. I actually really only decided Arsenal was my favorite fairly recently, as a more casual fan and not having grown up around the sport I teetered between teams but between all the teams I like them philosophically the most--the classically good football and the willingness to develop players just speaks to me. Chelsea fan actually haha, since he was a young child. What don't you like about Chelsea? I'm still learning and I'm still not too knowledgeable about the financial politics and managers--yet.

Oh, and if you don't mind the incessant questioning, what do you think of Sage Francis? I recently asked a question which had the BQ of ranking Sage, Slug, Aesop, Eyedea, and Brother Ali and I found it very difficult (although I stuck Ali at the bottom which was honestly unfair of me since he's so different from the other four). Sage Francis has long been my favorite because of an intellectual kinship I've felt with him but sometimes I find it hard to judge his albums because they have such personal meaning to him. There's such a depth of character to them that I feel like it's impossible without having a holistic understanding of the context surrounding his work.

Oh yeah women's tennis. Honestly the only sports and I can find myself really interested in are football and basketball (aside from my own, fencing). I think because of fencing I have this attraction to sports in which rhythm and technique are crucial elements, so since they both are so footwork oriented and require such skill I love to watch them. Who do you want to in Champion's League out of those left? Also did you see Suarez's second goal in the game against PSG? Probably one of my favorite goals, period.

As for La Liga I honestly can't claim any attachment to any specific team beyond carefree admiration the teams most in form. I like Atletico Madrid because Mandzukic and Fernando Torres, the latter whom I've gained an appreciation from videos of old games, but there are very few players in the world who I find as enthralling as Iniesta. Real Madrid is too physical for my taste; although they're a powerful example of modern football I just wish there was more elegance. Still, I enjoy whenever Modric or Benzema has the ball (when the latter's not in form notwithstanding).

Hey, that's good to hear! I've gotten into football fairly recently--in the last two years because of my british roommates in university, but I got pretty into it quickly. In EPL Arsenal's my favorite team, and I totally feel ya about Wenger. The romanticist in me wants me to say that the improvisation is what makes Arsenal such a joy to watch but the realist tells me that Wenger needs to get his head out of the clouds. At least he's not as stubborn as Del Bosque.

Also, completely random, but have you ever submitted writing for competition or articles for entrance into the New Yorker or some such magazine? I've been reading over our old conversations and I just realized you're one of the more prosaically gifted people I've had the luck to know.

As for music of note--yeah, plenty! Just, most of it is stuff that I know is of note because I've heard it overhead in a club or bar haha, but to be fair a lot of it I actually have thought was fairly good in its own right. Otherwise, Homeboy Sandman, Smif-n-Wessun and Cool Calm Pete have been spun more than usual. And Atmosphere and Sage Francis but that's normal for me.

Yeah I'm trying to get a math degree and rushed into several proof-based classes at once, so they're slowly dismantling my soul but if I get through this semester I'll take it easier in the future. Definitely having a blast, having been living in Manhattan for almost two years now and been through almost every single major city in the United States I honestly can't say there's a better place to be. It's pretty much the capital of drugs, sex, and frivolous spending, which are all fun but sometimes not the wisest of things to do, but all the close association with the arts and local events make up for it. Well, that's my hope anyways! Good luck on the U Chicago visit, the campus there is gorgeous and there's anything that school has it's smart kids.

There are different opinions about his personality. I can't trust Vast Aire and all that shit he said about El but Aesop Rock beef made me realise that he ain't that nice as press making him to be. Blockhead said it's too personal to give any details but it's the shame that Ae and El-P will never do a collab again. I like his debut album Fantastic Damage, his best work. He's a great producer but i dont really care that much about RTJ, this project is kinda overrated by everyone(the best track are depressive ones and i am not fuck with their "aggressive" side. But i am still waiting for the third album. They've done it better on solo stuff, though. I adore your avatar, who's that?

Nah, I can't think of any songs that would be like what you're looking for. But if you find something, pass it along my way. haha... Damn, Chi-town. What makes you wanna go there? Probably cold af for that first third of the year. I've heard of Amoeba. They got those videos on Youtube where people show what's in their bag. You're a devoted collector for just going all the way to LA for some albums. I assume you'd be going to LA for more than just that though. heh

Why "Thief's Theme" and "You Know My Style" are reduced to being bonus cuts is beyond me. "Disciple" sounds like a promotional track that doesn't seem exactly right for the album. I like it and how aggressive Nas is on it, but two songs called "Disciple" on the same album? C'mon. Kind of like how Jay-Z has that song "Blueprint 2" on Blueprint 2. "The Blueprint 2 is on the way" - Whenever I hear that lyric I think "No, it's not, it's already been released, hence why I'm listening to this song on the album right now." ..."With some Nas albums it feels like he's got one foot in the last album and one foot in the current album" Couldn't have put it better, he's gotten better with this recently though. "The only thing HHID really needed was more songs focused on hip-hop's apparent demise." Yup, when it comes down to it, Hip Hop is Dead was a pretty damn gimmicky title. Almost seems kind of tacked on.

Yeah, he also added "Star Wars" (!!!) to Street's Disciple. I like the rearranging Zilla did overall actually, I think he makes the albums work better, even if it's a bit at the expense of Nas' originally intended vision(s). See, I think we both really like Nas, and these mid-2000s albums in particular, because we appreciate that Nas tries so much on them. It's like the vision Nas has, in terms of what he wants to accomplish, is too ambitious for its own good - him wanting to cover so many areas of his life on one album, like you said, the myriad of themes and viewpoints, it can get cluttered. Street's Disciple actually merits being as long as it is, in terms of all the ground it tries to cover. Sure, he could make the album arguably better and more accessible by narrowing it down and not trying as much, but he doesn't do that. He kind of goes all out. Er, all out in his own way. lol. You know what I mean?

Well that didn't go as planned. At least we responded well against Leicester but even there the performance was good. Looks back to the dodgy Arsenal of the start of the season after a short good run

Unbelievably nervous about the match today. Think we're good enough to get a win, even without Alexis, but you can never be sure in a NLD. I think this game could have a big impact on the rest of the season.

How music is created and consumed has changed, that is good and bad like anything in life. Swift doesn't bother me cos she isn't for me, Gaga upsets me cos people act like there was not craft in pop before her. All she is is an overwrought image with generic hooks, the music doesn't match the intensity of her image. I find her to be wack.

It was a singles vehicle & you're right, I think with her overall career picking up a second LP was expected. So as a result, her involvement was not what is should have been. It wasn't so much the production, just that the songs were not there. Thankfully she delivered her first album's album with TiMT which still stands as one of her finest moments. The vocals there were nice too, especially considering where she'd go vocally with "Como..." and "Brave" which remain her finest efforts post-TiMT imho.

You're good. I enjoy this type of stuff. In regard to "Rebirth," in the wake of TiMT it was just not up to par. It was clearly a transitional recording, above the dire "J.Lo" but several ace cuts do not an album make. I think she hit her peak with "Como..." and "Brave," at their best they capture Jennifer stepping into new territory and consolidating and expounding on previous themes in a consistent manner. Personally, I love "Never Gonna Give Up" as it seems a lot of her passion went into its narrative, lyrically.

Amazing how much of an impact Coquelin has had considering he was playing in the Championship two months ago. Makes you wonder how much of a difference it would make having a top class DM like Matic in our team. Also looks like we've finally figured out how to approach big away games, can see a slow progression from the games against Chelsea, Liverpool and finally City which were all improvements from last season. Also looks like basically all the top sides are out the FA Cup bar Liverpool and United so maybe there's a good chance we'll retain it (let's hope I don't jinx the game tomorrow)

Yeh, I could see The Cardigans connection. I'm a huge Cardigans fan, HUGE. I own all their stuff & all the guys in that group are pretty smoking lol. I have some retrospectives lined up, thanks for the support...it's appreciated. :) In regard to Kinky, do yourself a favor and check out the rest of their LPs, none of them are bad. They really are a great band, very musical, lots of grooves to be had. Why don't you scrobble as much?

yeah my dad is maori =) and i heard that shit about Mya too, and I don't believe it. I think she went with the wrong guy, not a multitude of them, just one. all it takes is one bitter person in the same industry as you lmao..surprised you didn't name Beyonce as one of your top cuties? Janet has perfect bone structure, but I think even the most perfect woman would have struggled under a father like theirs lol, now that man has much to explain.

COADF wasn't petfect, but it was well put together & had a strong singles set. "American Life" was her last record where she was hungry. I just wish her music was engaging and it hasn't been since COADF, that said "MDNA" had some bright spots to it. I will buy the new LP, I always support her. So we will see. <3

I got the second one first, its nice. Bits of northern soul, industrial, alternative all sewn together with a kiss of pop. Which brings me to my next point, I wouldn't say its "class" that's the driving factor for my listening requirements. I suppose it is musicality. Madonna's been lacking it for sometime, barring the better bits of "MDNA". Not too mention this zombiefied "Erotica" persona she's dredged up...blech.

you scare me. cus i think about todays rap and i like Pinkprint alot, and then i think about telling you that and your face going >:I and then you being all 'go with ur bullshit taste' but yeah LOL. Pinkprint doing it for me lately, especially I Lied and Crying Game. Her singing voice irritates me still, its so finessed and forced up but her rapping is strong af, not lyrically just very present on each of her tracks.

Planning practice? Is that like medical stuff? I feel like I'm completely off base with that... Yeah, I used to be the same way as far as bashing stuff goes. It feels good to do that and dismiss stuff as trash. It's pretty cathartic...

Things are pretty good on my end. My semester just ended like 2 weeks ago, so it's been nice to have some time off, even though I should be trying to get a job somewhere. How about you? Last time I checked you were working as a busboy and had a skin disease. lol. I'd hope things have improved for you since... I'd say the three main albums from this year that I've been into are Run the Jewels 2, pom pom by Ariel Pink, and Black Messiah by D'Angelo. I didn't care all that much for Pinata by MadGibbs actually, even though I know a lot of other people did. Outside of that, nothing's really been on my radar worth mentioning. Definitely check those three out though if you have the time. I know the Run the Jewels is free. And D'Angelo! You'll probably dig it for the subtle Prince influence... What you been listening to? I've seen you comment on newest Prince album and that's about it.

He has definitely established himself as a legend. There's definitely no arguing with that. Weeping Worm is actually an EP, just an official collection of old songs already released with two never heard before songs. Btw dude, advanced merry xmas lol. Have a dope new year! I don't think I'll be here by then to greet you so yeah lol.
