Yeah, MQ's lame, but that's really enough to be said there - after a certain point discussion on how somethings overrated seems to become pointless hating. But Be was certainly a great album, it was cohesive and Common brought Kanye's best out for the whole album, I just think that Common could've gone without the rather juvenile ponderings on God's gender and the monlogue on how great love is...The Corner was one of Common's greatest tracks, I think he was at his best there in terms of how he expressed his content, which is many times what I think is the biggest determinant of quality in his work. To be completely honest, I haven't listened to Electric Circus because of the mixed views on it, and generally when things are super electronic I don't enjoy them that much, but the producers are all dope so I think I'll go ahead and listen to that now...

Yeah, Y!A surely does keep up to date with mainstream acts, if not give you detailed information on the underground...but really MQ isn't a special reg, he's like the little regs except with a lot more knowledge - completely subjective who only ranks acts based on how he enjoys them. That's why every couple weeks he brings up a new act he thinks is under-appreciated and claims they're top 5 or 10 or something ridiculous like that, because he re-discovers them...I don't really care how much anyone knows really (like how many albums or artists), but if you express detailed opinions that are debatable with others then that's what's fun. On a side note, what do you think is Common's best album? A lot of people on Y!A say they think it's Be, but I think Like Water For Chocolate is clearly better in every aspect...

Hey, Mr. S. Perrota sir, I realize Y!A appreciation for originality may not match yours...but I've haven't read an interesting answer since you haven't been on... Different arrays of ideas and views on hip hop being supported are what made that site entertaining. Trylemma, You, Nexx, and Mitch writing detailed answers kept the site alive even through all the vitriol, but people seem intent on bitching people out who have dynamically different views on hip hop when the different people are overly blunt even when they're the same way...then again maybe I'm just tired, it's late and I'm running out of coffee...

Alright, thanks for the recs with Beans, and yeah, Johnson & Johnson was good but didn't amaze me. Mostly I listen to the So(ul) Amazing mixtape series, which I would recommend if you haven't heard them already...it features a lot of his own production, which I actually enjoy more than Exile's, but that's just me, along with several other songs where he's been featured on other artist's songs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmUvaW_crCE There's one of my favorite songs on them, Blu actually did produce the track, not Exile, the uploader got it wrong.

Yeah, yeah, paper takes precedence. It doesn't seem to be very strict in just terms of schedule - I was a little hesitant to make a commitment due to it being late in the school year, but Trylemma isn't too tight concerning deadlines and such (not saying that it should be abused). I was supposed to get a review in on Monday, but it's finals week, and I've had a boatload of work dumped in my lap - practically no time at all. It really isn't wise for me to be getting on Y!A or Last.fm in the first place...but I've never been good at disciplining myself. I think I can finish the review today though, arbitrarily. It's on Hail Mary Mallon's "Are You Gonna Eat That?" Have you heard it?

Nothin at all really - it's basically me, Crakpot, and Trylemma brought together and we're going to review albums and talk about various other subjects. If you sent Trylemma an e-mail he would be down with getting one of us three to review something, or maybe to let you into the whole thing. I don't know, he seems to be the ringleader.

Yeah, I haven't listened to his discography out of these three albums, so I don't really have much to say concerning it's relation to other albums I haven't mentioned, but yeah, I've always thought a producer with a distinctive sound marks good quality; a producer who has a versatile sound while still being distinctive marks great quality. It's certainly solid, and I would agree that it's solid.

I used to go by "Aaron B is President", "Aaron B is Back", and "The Stereotypical Black Man", now I go by "No One More Chance Without Biggie". I added you as a contact.

Yeah, I really enjoyed 12 Step Program, it's probably my second favorite Panacea album next to The Scenic Route. I like how he went pretty in depth with his philosophy. On a side note, I like this Jasmine Trinca, but Monica Belllucci is still probably my favorite beautiful Italian...still stunning in her late forties.

Oh yeah, Jamiroquai is the shit. I haven't listened to him in a while though...but yeah, he's got a lot of good material. I have a friend who's literally obsessed with them, like one of the single-band things, he could talk abotu Jamiroquai forever. One of my other friends said he literally talked about Jamiroquai for eight hours straight....lol. Yeah, he's good.

Yeah I know what you mean, there's a lot of conscious hip hop saturating the underground. I mean, I love Blue Scholars, for example, Sabzi's one of my favorite producers, but I've never thought that MC Geo actually brought anything interesting to the table. The sort of vague conscious rhymes he spits are pretty commonplace now that I think about it, and I don't think he's anything special technically. It's just easier to think of as 'real' and 'innovative' because you can sort of identify with that, I think. I'll definitely check out the new Clan Destined album though, thanks for recommending it.

It's more a way of organising stuff, than actually listening to stuff... I don't see how it's a waste of time though, I've added artists over a long period of time + I'm hardly ever on here... in the foreseeable future, when I actually have time on my hands, I'll probably scrobble some shit... I have a life outside Last FM and Y!A, you know?! and at least get a classy chick for that shit v

Thanks! And lol@atmosphere on crack lol. I'll be sure to check them out, along with Anticon in general, I've heard the name but never gotten around to it. About Oneirology...It's interesting...it's certainly nothing like their previous releases. I don't think it's as good as A Piece of Strange, but it's a completely different experience. It has some really great highs, but a track or two just wasn't that great to me. I would recommend trying it, at least. The beats all consist of synths and angelic choirs and stuff like that, with the backbeat usually being pretty heavy, and if I heard right, all from the same drums sample. I would say give it a try, but you may or may not like it.

Yeah, Y!A can really come back to bite you sometimes, I dunno how I'm still on... anyways, yeah stick around on Y!A... What do you think of Mystikal by the way? Dude's been one of my favorite southern rappers for ages... Tarantula is worth checking out and he's working with Mannie Fresh on a new album soon...

Why is it that whenever I go last fm for more than a day, someone adds to da muthaphukkin' shoutbawx... Anyway, what up Creix! I'm that big a fan of Main Flow, but he has some immaculate joints which make up for a slightly monotonous flow. Hip-Hopulation was definitely a highlight of '04, great production - sits somewhere between RZA and Kanye, really nice soul-ish joints but they still have an underground rawness to them, this sums it up nicely, even if it's a bit harsh: http://www.rapreviews.com/archive/2004_08_hiphopulation.html His collabos with 7L are worth a mention too... oh yeah and what album is that in your Y!A avatar? I swear I've seen it somewhere before recently, just can't place it... I'll get back to you on Five Deez, I'm on Skysports willing Arsenal FC on to a win...

True dat... Are from Chicago? I'm a big fan of Tha Chamba (even if they had 1 album) and Crucial Conflict aswell On the Y!A shit, although Trylemma annyos the hell out of me, he has a point when he says that half the forum are either mechies or just clocking up 800+ points a week... but I still go on every so often... R&P isn't exactly enjoying a renaissance itself...
