This is the section of the 'My Personal Best Albums Ever'-journal where I discuss the albums with a score between 7,000 and 5,751. You'll find some information about these albums, including my personal highlights. I'll try to eventually review every album in this list. Bonobo - One Offs... Remixes & B-Sides (2002)

I remember the time when I was a lot younger and I didn't know much of the electronic music scene yet. All I knew about it was artists like Moby, The Prodigy, Faithless and some other popular artists. Some day a good friend of my dad gave me a copy of Kruder & Dorfmeister - The K&D Sessions™. I knew there existed 'lounge' music, but I never found it interesting, untill that day. It really introduced me to the more unknown artists in the electronic music scene. This was the moment where I started to dig into this kind of music. A few months later we went on a holiday and it felt like my duty to take care of the music. I ended up with a selection of CD's which sounded listenable for a broad audience. It included this CD of Bonobo. I remember that while putting this on in the livingroom everyone whistled along with the Bonobo remix of Pilote - Turtle. That specific track made this CD go back in the CD-player again and again. After a few listens I really started to notice that this wasn't just a couple of regular chillout tracks, it was so much more! And the title suggesting that it were only B-Sides really took me by surprise and I can't understand the title untill this very moment. The songs have so much depth, they have so many different layers, the music is smooth, it's interesting, it's jazz, it's breakbeat, it's trip-hop, it's relaxing but towards the end of the disc upbeat, well, it has become an all-time favourite! And it got me into Ninja Tune, Amon Tobin, Pilote and a lot of other artists which I wouldn't have known if I didn't take this CD with me on that vacatian. Well, maybe faith would've led me to this wonderfull music, but we will never know for sure… (29-01-2009)
