Mon 26 May – Death Cab for Cutie, Tegan and Sara, Rogue Wave

The good points:
It was good to see Death Cab for Cutie live. The best of the concert was about mid-point, leading up to and directly following the acoustic "I Will Follow You Into the Dark", and immediately before and during the encore. Otherwise, it was a pretty average concert.

The location is another spectacular outdoor setting in Utah.

Tegan and Sara seemed to have a good following and got some of the audience dancing. I thought it was a mediocre performance of mediocre music. But, heh,…

While I'm endorsing CD/DVD sets, this is another one that I highly recommend. The CD alone is worth it, but the semi-documentary DVD also contains some great music and some insight moments into the roots of the blues by those who were there. Most of the performances are impromptu visits. Several of the artists passed away shortly after Kenny Wayne Shepherd filmed this, bringing home the point that few of the originals remain.

Blues in…

I have had tracks from this collection for a while, and I always felt they were fine covers of Robert Johnson. My Robert Johnson covers collection consists of nearly 200 artists, and includes all of the major tribute albums. But, this is by far and away, the best of them all. Eric Clapton brings Robert johnson back to life. This, and his related effort "Me and Mr. Johnson" are must haves. The DVD, with its session performances, includes tracks with a full band, some with an acoustic duel guitars, and a few with Eric Clapton acoustic solo. Enjoy!
