Sweet, sounds epic! Damn that's really expensive. I think that's a lot more than Soundwave right?

You should seeing how its the only Aus show for AtDI, will you go for the whle 3 days?
操作

ladyoftherock
Awn, dilly dilly. It's a great initiative to help grow the independent's scene. Here in Brazil is more or less the same way. We have a radio called "Trama Virtual", where you can hear the band's albums and even download, so you can help the band make money from the downloads.

I'd like to go to Splendor one day, when I'm satisfied with the whole lineup. Although it would be cool to see SP at Splendor, in a festival setting. They're going to do a killer show, apprently those "Wall" shows were amazing.
操作
-
FluffyUnderwear
Wow really? I heard that this tour might just be their only one. The day that they're on has a pretty okay line-up tbh. If I were you I'd go. Unless Splendour is expensive? Anyway you're gonna see SP!! I'd love to see them again. I think they'll be performing their new material as well.

Here in Brazil is like that too, it is colder to the south. I live in the Northeast, where it is warmer weather. Changing the subject, let's talk music. How is the market for independent music in Australia?
操作
-
FluffyUnderwear
Yeah haha. It's been almost a decade since they've actually talked right? What a pity. I'd really like to but right now I'm focusing on listening to recent releases due to running a music blog haha. I'll definitely keep them in mind though. And lucky you! I saw the Splendour line-up! You must have done flips when you found out about SP haha. Line-up is sick too!!
操作
-
aFINEmess18
I don't think it's worth the money, sure it would be nice to go, but I think Australian festivals are becoming a bit of a joke now. I reckon going to a pumpkins sideshow would be heaps better, but that is disappointing about at the drive in
操作

aFINEmess18
Besides the first line of major headliners, the rest are pretty much just triple j unearthed bands or bands/acts that you could see anytime.
操作
-
aFINEmess18
...maybe :) SP are playing at splendor??!!!!! That's awesome, I haven't seen the lineup yet but I want to go! Tour dates can't be far off now.

aFINEmess18
haha, yep I've been neglecting one of my courses as well, there's barely any maths involved so I'm finding it very boring.
操作
-
ladyoftherock
Yeah so do I. Although Brazil is a tropical country and make more heat than cold, I always preferred the colder climate. There are some areas here that has a climate similar to therefrom. =)

You can find it at rutracker.org! You'll need to register though, but it's totally worth it. The amount of music they have there is insane! Yeah the album shows the strengths Iha brought to SP. Looking at his work, it'll be really awesome if he can collaborate with Billy again, even if it's not under the SP banner. Never listened to them, although they did come to my country for a gig once. Unfortunately I was watching another band called Between the Buried and Me on the same night.
操作
-
aFINEmess18
haha, lucky you remembered before the due date. How are you liking your courses so far?
操作
-
FluffyUnderwear
Definitely agree with that. Yeah Yuck has just only started, but for a band with only one album and a few years of existence, they've gotten quite a lot of attention, which is great. Can't wait to see what they can do with their second. No prob man, yeah Omar wasn't so energetic because his mom died, unfortunately. I totally understand it, but there are some people out there berating him despite knowing his loss. It's stupid. The fact that he's carrying on with the Coachella gigs is already commendable enough. BTW have you heard the new James Iha album? It's pretty good!
操作

FluffyUnderwear
I totally understand. That's the problem with a lot of 'indie' music nowadays; bands borrow a lot of influences to the point of thievery. I'm not accusing Yuck of that, in fact their song compositions are pretty original. It's just that there's not a lot of new ground being broken, which is why I'm constantly on the look-out for music that has broken boundaries. Maybe not a lot but something that's...new, you know? I don't mind bands being influenced by past music but at least there must be something there that brings something new to the table. There's this band called Weird Dreams, been into their debut album Choreography lately. They have a very strong Beach Boys influence, but they've definitely developed their own sound even though bands like The Drums and Girls are pretty similar. You should check them out when you can! And no worries I got you covered: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4ukI_WBtDg&feature=player_embedded

Yeah I really like Yuck but they do share a lot of similarities with the Pumpkins. Did you watch At the Drive-In's set at Coachella? It was sick!!
操作

aFINEmess18
I've never heard of it being done before, but it looks awesome. Uni hasn't been going too bad, I had an exam yesterday which I'm not feeling very confident in. I'd still rather be on holidays though. How about for you?

Setlist was great. At one point the guitarist (don't know his name), was playing the guitar like a violin, with a bow, I thought that was very cool.

ah ok, thats bad timing, at least you've got tickets to really see them. Goodluck for your game :)

Yes! Sounds great. Not sure if you'd be interested but you can watch and listen live to the Coachella festival happening at the moment, its got an insane lineup, I've been listening to it while doing some study, I missed Mazzy Star but M83 were incredible. http://www.youtube.com/coachella

I really love Slowdive, Cocteau Twins etc. but I like the distortion effects of shoegaze a little bit more, especially when its comes to My Bloody Valentine and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart
操作
-
aFINEmess18
You're probably right. So did you like the rest of the album? I never would have picked you for a Mazzy Star fan.
操作
-
aFINEmess18
Psychedelic probably suits MS more than dream pop...I can't work out where the 'pop' bit comes from at all actually. At least not from that album.
操作
-
aFINEmess18
Oh ok, I guess their vocals are kinda similar, not entirely. Yeah I do like Mazzy Star, its been a while since I last gave them a listen, I've only heard the album you're listening to now, very dreamy.
操作

aFINEmess18
BBC and Interpol? I don't see the connection between the two at all, BBC aren't even in the same realm as Interpol, unless you consider Interpol as Indie pop which I certainly don't. Going off their latest album, I'd probably liken BBC to The Drums, or maybe Cults (without the childish sounding vocals). The latest album isn't as dull as the others, you should check out Shuffle and How Can you Swallow So Much Sleep.
操作
-
FluffyUnderwear
Definitely, unless you don't like complex math-metal compositions. Gojira's musically simpler compared to them. Both are very heavy bands though, so go for it!

Have you checked out Bombay Bicycle Club before? You could like this album: http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/6633844/Bombay_Bicycle_Club_-_A_Different_Kind_Of_Fix_2011

No prob! Haha yeah I try! It can be hard sometimes, but in the end it's always worth it. Yeah agree with you about Albini. The album has fantastic production. I just wish they explored more of their darker side. IMO it only lasted with the first two songs before jumping back into power pop. It isn't necessarily a bad thing but hey, maybe their next album might welcome a bigger, more radical change. Do you listen to Meshuggah?
操作
-
aFINEmess18
It was really good :) probably would've been better to go in a cabin though (came across a few snakes and heaps of dingoes).
操作
-
aFINEmess18
Yeah it should be :) so do you go to Hawkes Nest quite a bit? Beach House's new album sounds great, I love it, so much better than Teen Dream. Myth and Other People are probably my favourites so far.
操作
-
FluffyUnderwear
Hey man. Haha I'm so tempted to download the leak but I think I'll wait for the CD to come out. I've heard really good things about it though, and yours is just the tip of the iceberg. I love Teen Dream but I found it hard to get into their albums before that. The new Cloud Nothings record is really good. Nice combination of power pop and dark, edgy 90s post-hardcore. It's a bit too short though. What do you think? Oh btw, if you like collecting vinyls (which I assume you do), Amazon.co.uk is selling a new edition of Turn On the Bright Lights for only £8.53.
操作

aFINEmess18
It would be brilliant. Sounds good, goodluck for the interview! I think I'll probably just hang out with friends and do some shopping + beach, possibly even camping near Tea Gardens, should be fun.
操作
-
aFINEmess18
Would you go to a SP show again? Haha I probably won't get much done either, but I'll try. I don't think I will go home, Newcastle has a lot more to do then home does :) have you made any plans for the week?
操作
-
aFINEmess18
Yeah I think Billy tweeted something about an Aus/NZ tour, which would be great. Yeah I'm so ready for a break haha, but I've got a ridiculous amount of uni which I should probably do. Are you?
操作
-
aFINEmess18
So did I, but having the set date now, that isn't that far away has renewed the interest, would be even better if they announced Australian tour dates as well.
操作
-
aFINEmess18
Yeah it was, good to have some proper meals again too. Yeah I really like Goo but there are a few songs which I can easily skip (Cinderella's big score). Looking forward to June 19? Heard the news today.
操作
-
aFINEmess18
Cool, I went home for the weekend which was nice. Goo is great, liking it more than Rather Ripped.

Haha well for me it definitely lives up to the hype. One of my favourite albums of the year so far. Very consistent album, can't recall any tracks I don't like. Anyway, ANCHORMAN 2!! Finally.
操作
-
FluffyUnderwear
Yeah there's a lot of stuff previously unheard of right? Can't wait till it comes. How are you finding the new Grimes album? Also, OCEANIA HAS A DATE! June 19th!!!
操作
-
aFINEmess18
haha yeah its the song I go to when I open itunes at the moment, I'm hooked on it. The entire album is brilliant, I never really thought I'd be a Sonic Youth fan but this album has converted me.
操作
-
aFINEmess18
Ok, I just got that album so I'll give it a listen. Right now I'm stuck on Pink Steam by Sonic Youth, I love it!
