While adding more Aretha Franklin's tracks to my profile, I starting remembering when the folks playing cards with their friends on a Saturday night.
Card playing was a social event in our house. You basically set up for this event like a mini party - a little food/drink and lots of music.
They played "bid-whisk" (I admit I never really got into the game myself but it looked fun). They played the game, relaxed, and joked around for hours. Later in the evening came the dancing. Aretha Franklin's, Al Green's and Tyrone Davis' songs were the ones they sang along with.
The most fun part of this was to see them allow themselves to have fun like us kids had a "licensed" to do back in the day.
