All about ethics/why we should have em..Its more on the medical side of things..Anacephalic infants, taking care of dead bodied pregnant women, etc..I've got till wednesday, and I've got one paragraph...Its only 8-10 pages, but I need to quit procrastinating...I believe I have most of the research done, but going from notecards to paper I hope I don't come up short...

I won't even start a war on logic...at least I know that I KNOW nothing about it...I could sit here and say this and that is logical or illogical, but at the end of the day I'd be a mindless fool propagating stuff that I know next to nil about, yet at the same time sound like a genius to the village idiot! :P

Well, now I'm not sure, if I understand. But I don't think "free to participate" is the right think to say. The participation alone is liberty. If you don't participate or cannot participate, then you're not free according to positive liberty.

I thought it'd be better to reply directly in your shoutbox =]. You either got positive liberty wrong or I explained it wrongly =D. Laws just like any other decisions are decided by the people (the political entity or community). Positive liberty is liberty of political action (participation). You participate in decision-making process, you're free.

Respect to you, good sir, for spreading logic and rational thinking throughout last.fm and undoubtedly elsewhere. Truly a worthy cause - Even if stubborn creationists would have you think otherwise. In the mean time, their attempts to disprove facts does at least make for humorous reading. Although, sometimes I don't know whether to laugh or cry at some of the stuff they come out with!

I actually presume that religion, especially insane positions like creationism strongly contribute to my misanthropic tendencey. It's such a sad thing that you can barely fight these ideas cause people seem to be mentally crippled. The chance would be to keep away religion from school an to practise secular scholar politics and politics in general.

Harr, defenders of Intelligent Design and creationism are still the funniest blinded people. What I read is that in America, atheism frequently provokes discriminating reactions, atheists have difficulties to be voted in higher positions, police does not support atheists (An example from God Delusion) and so on and so on...Gah, what do people think?

thank you lots if I'll have any question about the theme I'll go straight to you ^^ indeed I enjoy good book now and then for a shame I don't have much free time when I could read something for myself not the things I need for school... my book choice strongly depends on my mood but it's mostly a scientific literature [including philosophical books I just finished 3 of 4 books by Nitzche[I hope I wrote it right I always forget the english spelling] or historical roman

we are at the very beginning of genetics on my biology curse so I don't know much of details now but I almost burn in impatience to get to know it... math has never been a problem for me only sometimes I get too "oh this is simply I totally understand it no need to concentrate now" and miss something but I get back very quickly so yeah... I have also realized that I don't think exactly like the main part of people so I solve problems [also math problems] differently but I think it just might help me later on

Yeah, the Bible is an endless source of logical failure, omnipotence itself is a paradoxon. Practical problems are solvable, but you can't solve theoretic problems without modifying your opinion. If divine papa was omnipotent, he should be able to create an object with any attributives, f.e. „too heavy to be carried" I'd be eager to see, how he would remove these fucking objects...But theists don't seem to understand the tremendous paradoxa of their beliefs, for some reason. Hopefully, theism will diminish more and more, in fact, there are more and more atheists among young people, at least in europe, how abot America? If the development goes on, we will live in a world without guliibility one day.

I've understand the same thing about learning actually I start to see smaller and smaller need for lectures cause all I need for tests can be found in books as well as all I want to know myself which are mainly the same but I want to know more than I need to.. at this point and my situation I see point only in biology lectures cause we discuss things "outside the book" a lot there so yeah.... as I see the world it all math actually don't know if you have seen the movie pi [the symbol for calculating circle length you know] but from there comes this quote "everything in this world can be understand trough numbers"

It's a problem that concerns the foreign psyche of superstitious people an rationalists like me and you, we can not find any explanation for the affinity to believe in a trancendental entity and a story, which is obviously a fairytale at the one hand, but refuse all other fairytales like Snow White or what not at the other hand. Furthermore, it bothers me, that there will never be a solution, because we can hardly prove the non-existence of something. I'm reading Dawkins at the moment and he's demonstrating, how people could develop such an affinity, but all these theories seem to be quite abstract. I wonder, how humanty can have such ambivalent world views. Faith is maybe justifiable somehow, but I above all, I wonder, how people could believe anything from the Bible. You always want to shake your head when discussing with an theist, It's kinda frustrating, but it keeps your mind awake. Strange, strange world.

to discover how this world works is the most interesting thing one can ever do.. of curse I mean how it REALLY works.. I am one really unlucky person cause all my physic teachers have been really bad at what they do so tough I really like and enjoy physic as a sphere of science I don't understand it well as I would like to because of the teachers whom I've had and that really sucks xD on the other hand I've a lot more into biology so I know well how the life on this world works and I am planing to study that in university too as I graduate from high school on the year after the next one

christian forums you say? then I understand but I am just a quite quiet person I wonder how they find me.. I've read bible few times but not all trough just a little parts but I really want to read it from cover to cover. the fact that most of thous "jesus loves us all" christians truly have never even read the book they base their whole life on... that makes them silly in the core.. but yeah the fact that they in Gilgamesh have darker upper lip is kinda strange it always drags my attention cause it's bizzare.. how can an upper lip that is closer to the light be darker than the other one? makes no sense

What petty excuses you always find to avoid admitting your ignorance on Orthodoxy. Classic. Thanks for wasting my time.

I dare to say that most orthodox (meaning truer, more traditional) Lutherans would not recognize those new Protestant denominations, but only the original Reformation, which IS named Protestantism. The distinction between Lutheranism and the rest Protestant denominations was made later, because new denominations were jumping here and there. Originally, Protestantism is that of Martin Luther. Modern Protestants follow most of Luther's Theses, whether they know it or not (should be interesting to expand on this).

Really?! You're aware of my Church's doctrine? So, what are the basic Eastern Orthodox tenets? What is our view about the Trinity? That's a basic one, should be easy, go on.

Wikipedia: "The term 'Protestant' is most closely tied to those groups that separated from the Roman Catholic Church in the 16th century's Protestant Reformation when in 1517 Martin Luther nailed his Ninety-Five Theses on the Power and Efficacy of Indulgences to the door of the All Saints' Church in Wittenberg, Germany."

It's about whether Genesis has any passages that contradict the current scientific consecus, just pointing out certain misconceptions, not "proving anything".

Then you probably know that Orthodox Christians do not consider death as a penalty imposed by God and neither do they look at Hell as a place where God sends you. Slightly reminds me of Buddhism. Anyway, just keep in mind that Easterners do not have a juridical approach. It's just that the word "Christianity" covers us too, which often creates misunderstandings.

I find it disappointing that you've never met Orthodoxy. Do you, at least, bothered to check what Wikipedia says about Eastern Theology?
