There are still good bands to be seen and I feel very lucky being able to see bands in Europe who hardly ever make the journey across the pond - I feel for my US friends who are craving PT and Riverside and much smaller bands who can't afford a tour. Most of my gigs have been in the past 5 years, having omitted to go to concerts when I was young and free of kiddies. Thank heavens for the renaissance in some bands' careers (and the longevity of others') and for music festivals! I enjoyed your a tiny portion of your library yesterday, some lovely bluegrass. Have a great weekend ; ))

Thanks for your shout, I love to listen to (and to sing) choral music, it is so pure and calming. I am in awe of your seen live list - I am a lazy so and so compared to you! Your library will be plundered : )))

Saw your post on Morrissey's "Suedehead" song. Checked out your page and saw that we have much music in common. I see some stuff I don't know on your page. Looking forward to checking those bands out. I'm also a fan of classical guitar, Americana, french horn and trumpet. I live in the South and fellow prog-rock lovers are rare to come by, too. I tell people I just like variety. It's great how music bridges the gap of time and distance. Cheers!

Hey Mark--saw your comments on U2's 'Boy' album. I felt--and still feel--the same way....was the freshest thing I'd ever heard back in 1980, and will forever be my favorite of theirs and one of my top 10 'stranded on a desert island' picks. Saw them at the Hollywood Palladium after 'October' came out, I don't think I missed a concert of theirs for years afterwards. Cheers---Jessy :)

Thanks for the kind words - always nice to have someone hear vai and rush influences in my playing. To answer your question, the brothers (n) was a phrase I took from Thomas Pynchon's The Crying of Lot 49 (I'll spare you the details - but great book worth reading). The (n) relating to my band comes from my being the only constant member - the rest of the brothers are all studio dudes who have filled in on various recordings. Cheers!

Re the Blacksmith - do you mean my reference to gumbo at University of York? Were you a customer or staff or a bit of both?

My Camel shout actually has a 'real story' behind it. Years ago back in the Chicago area there was a trucking company that had a logo on the side of its rigs that had a Camel with a caption on top that read 'Hump'in to Please'. We would roar with 'stoned' hilarious laughter when we would pass one. The Drivers did not appear to share out warped sense of humor as we convulsed while we pointed at the side of the truck. Nicorebel thought that it had some sexual connotation. Some people have their depraved - debauched minds in the gutter --- just like me. I observed that U are also into Classical music. Actually I play Classical, Rag - Time, Broadway - Show Tunes myself and not Rock & Roll. Go figure. I would post my 'About Me', but everyone would figure I am some kind of a 'Weirdo'. Aw, F'em if they ain't got no Culture, right? Anyway, thanks for the kind Shout and feedback. BOB

Thanks for asking. The entire vacation was rain filled and fantastic including a wet stay on July 4th in Nashville. The kids stayed in the hotel and I got to go out alone and see music along 2nd street and Broadway, either honky tonk heaven or american tourista hell. probably an little of both. The little bit I saw of Nashville seemed like a lively and interesting place. We stopped at Gruhn'[s guitars and I conceived an unnatural desire for a vintage Martin Ukulele.

Hey! Just logged on for the first time in months, moving back to Nashville has been a trip! And, I left Okiehoma with a great story...we were moving on May 20, every single piece of electronics already loaded. The tornado sirens had been going off for a couple of hours and it was one of those days when the skies were scary, but...it's Oklahoma. It does that. When we finally got in the vehicles to head to Ft. Smith for the night, we heard on the radio about the devastation not 15 miles south of us, and it was still blowing. We stayed in a hotel right around the corner from our house and took cover. It was insane to say the least. The next morning we headed east and could see the path it took. We were in the way at the hotel, but they usually turn east at I40, glad this one did as well. Dang it all! What a terrible day. Thanks for checking in one me. I'm more than a little thrilled to be back in Nashvegas.

thanks for you appreciation of my photo hobby. I really enjoyed being on top of the mountain. I was there for about an hour and the weather changed three times.

Nashville! Holy goddamn! I will be there for a day or two around the fourth of july with a bunch of kids in tow on an old school summer family vacation summer road trip. I will be playing the part of Chevy Chase. My question to a Nashvillian is 'what should we see?' and, more importantly, what should we eat? What's for food that we would not be able to discover ourselves that we can only get in Nashville and that is worth writing home about? As for the what should we see, that question is circumscribed by the limitation of what can we walk to in the downtown area.

I talked to you about SF writers and I just learn death of one of them... RIP Iain M. Banks ...

Phil is the greatest SF's writer ... although I also love Brunner, Walter Miller, Asimov, Banks, Galouye, Harness, Le Guin, Herbert, John Warley, Simak, Sturgeon and many others (including plenty of French authors who have never been translated in english and it's such a pity)
