A lot of people go crazy over analog synthesizers. I personally have always been fond of digital synthesis… You'd think it'd be the other way around, with the inherent instability of analog equipment and all, but I find that digital synthesis offers much more interesting worlds of sound to explore… Everything is a number, but somehow from the deadness of pure math, something very alive arises. A few simple waveforms such as sines and triangles can modulate each other to points that are galaxies away from where and how they began.
Using lots of large numbers in your audio…
