Last night, inspired by Feanor's recent marathons of Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, I polled my LiveJournal friends to figure out what I should attempt a marathon listening for. It was a tie between Peter Gabriel & Tangerine Dream.

At the moment, I'm only about 5.5 listening-hours into my marathon. I made a smart playlist containing all the tracks by both artists (and, in the case of Peter Gabriel, also included tracks he guested on). I sorted that list by release date, where I had it, which meant I played the untagged tracks first. Got out a lot of Gabriel singles, remixes and rarities right away. Then a double-album bootleg of live Tangerine Dream. This morning kicked off finishing off that album, then into the first and second Peter Gabriel albums. I've never been a big fan of either Peter Gabriel (Car) or Peter Gabriel (Scratch). Here Comes the Flood is really the only track that off of them that I go out of my way to listen to. On the other hand, now I'm up to the first of the German albums, the remake of Peter Gabriel (Melt). I really dig the german albums. After first german album is the english version of Melt, then my first date-tagged Tangerine Dream, their soundtrack to Thief.

Still 28.5 hours of tracks to listen to, so it will be a few days before I'm out…
