Sat 15 Aug – Bat for Lashes, Other Lives
Bat for Lashes has been my new favorite band for for a while now. Natasha Kahn and her band put on a terrific show with supporting act Other Lives from Oklahoma.
Other Lives played a lovely set. Their music, with cello, violin and piano in most songs seemed inspired perhaps by Grandaddy, misc. American folk, and even some prog or Radiohead-esque moments.
Bat for Lashes' set was complete with wolf howls and feathery earrings. The sound was great, and they seemed to be really enjoying themselves. Natasha was all smiles, and the slightly short (1 hour?) set hit all the favorites. A lovely solo-autoharp version of "Prescilla" was a highlight. No lo-fi version of "Daniel", but the full version was great with Charlotte Hatherly's Cure-like flanged guitar work.
