Even though I missed almost all the major Pop releases this year, it can't be denied that this year was still very much a music-centric year for me.
My friend LaKeina got me into the genres R&B and Rap music this year and I couldn't be happier. There are so many new artists/songs/album/etc. I've discovered and I'm so happy.
So this post is about my favorite R&B and Rap artists/songs/etc. that I've discovered this year, that didn't necessarily make new music this year (although some of them did). None of these are in any particular order.
Artists:
1. Ginuwine (the only 1 in any order)
2. Monica
3. Amanda Perez
4. R. Kelly
5. Aaliyah
6. Miguel
7. B.o.B
8. T.I.
9. Mary J. Blige
10. Yo Gotti
Songs:
1. Kendrick Lamar - Don't Kill My Vibe
2. B.o.B - We Still In This (feat. T.I. & Juicy J)
3. T.I. - Memories Back Then (feat. B.o.B, Kendrick Lamar & Kris Stephens)
4. Meek Mill - Believe It (feat. Rick Ross)
5. Ca$h Out - Cashin' Out
6. The Isley Brothers - Busted
7. The Isley Brothers - Contagious
8. Blackstreet - No Diggity (feat. Dr. Dre & Queen Pen)
9. Miguel - Quickie
10. Yo Gotti - Look In The Mirror and Throw Ya Sets Up (Bang Bang)
11. Travis Porter - College Girl
12. Ginuwine - Pony
13. Next - Too Close
14. Future - Magic (feat. T.I.)
15. Nelly - Over And Over (feat. Tim McGraw)
16. 2Pac - Changes (feat. Talent)
17. Keyshia Cole - Trust & Believe
18. Monica - So Gone
19. J. Cole - Power Trip (feat. Miguel)
20. Erykah Badu - Tyrone
Admittedly though, I didn't buy that many albums at all this year.
The ones I bought from these genres (and enjoyed) though are:
1. Ginuwine - Ginuwine... The Bachelor
2. Amanda Perez - Angel
3. R. Kelly - The R. In R&B Collection Vol. 1
I also bought Monica's After The Storm, but I admittedly haven't listened to it yet. I'll fix that soon.
I'm so happy I was introduced to these amazing genres, and hope to continue getting to know them better in 2014. :D
