Why was I so late in getting to this gig? In truth, I wasn't really - I got in about 8.45pm, expecting Delays to come on about 9.30pm & found they had already started!

Assuming it was their opening song (haha), was greeted by the adrenalin rush of the opening track of their new album. Girls On Fire is soaring & utterly magical. The spiky synth stabs of Lost In a Melody echoed around Koko then the song burst into life - this song really is one of their hidden gems - not on any of their albums but soooooo…

This is the first time I've ever written a review the same night of the gig, but I'm on such a ridiculous high, I have to get this out now, & I apologise in advance for any excessive rambling, babbling or whatever. I also apologise for the lack of links in this review - if I put them in, I'd be here all night!

Well this is a little overdue, but hey, they say the best things come to those who wait! ;) Unless you're waiting to hear Detlef Schrempf as I was. It was the only downer of the night. I was sooo looking forward to hearing it live & I knew it would make me burst into floods of tears when I heard it. Fortunately for everyone concerned, any waterworks issues were avoided, but I still would've loved to have heard it live. Anyway, enough about what they didn't play & more about what they did play!

Well, this promised to be a belter of a gig & Biffy Clyro didn't disappoint in any way. I was a little apprehensive about tonight as, those who know me, know I prefer mellower music & Biffy aren't really known for their mellower stuff, but there were some pools of calm in the storm of the gig. Anyhow, enough of the pre gig ramble!

Well, slightly belated but have finally found time to put together my review of the wonderful gig of The National that I went to recently.

Support came from the wonderful St. Vincent. Sadly I arrived too late to hear most of the set as I messed up the 'onstage' times & thought they were on later. Silly me! What I did hear sounded wonderful & otherworldly & I'm really looking forward to checking out the album.

This was truly the most confident & best that I have ever seen Athlete perform. Joel seemed so happy & relaxed & the warm, joyful atmosphere filled the venue, even reaching up to the dizzy heights of Level 2 seating where I was, not that many people were sat down!

Tokyo was a great opener & You Got The Style got the first massive cheer of the evening & prompted massive singalongs around the venue. Had already heard Airport Disco live before but this time it was even more mind blowing, with that incredible bassline, minimal electronic backing, beautiful lyrics…
