it is not art if is isn´t progressive. to holding and performing the new hidden sounds, to hear something at least really unique, i meen. there´s no logic to separate art & genuine brand new rock. anyway everything ends in a clasic rock categorización to the further generations. so art and progresive rock mean the same.end.that´s my kind of think.

3rd, after noticing comparison 1 and 2, I recommended VDGG to a massive Radiohead fan. He loved VDGG and also noticed the similarities. 4th, though Radiohead are at heart an alternative rock group, many prog-rock websites address Radiohead as a classic example of crossover prog. Now given that modern VDGG is also mostly crossover prog, when I listened to Trisector I again saw similar links between the bands. It was because of all these reasons that I shouted the similarities between the 2 bands. I know the bands do have differences, but I am suggesting that perhaps one of the Radiohead members was influenced by VDGG when they were young (and yes I do have too much time on my hands to be going in to so much detail).

I will explain my thought process in detail so people know why I made that comparison between Radiohead and VDGG. 1st, I heard strong comparisons in some of their songs, such as 2+2=5, paranoid android, national anthem, body snatchers etc with La Rossa, Scorched Earth, Lemmings (including Cog) etc. All of the songs listed are aggressive, and sound quite similar to each other in the way that aggression is delivered. 2nd, the lyrical themes from Radiohead and VDGG can be very similar. Take for example Fitter happier, where a computer reads out what is needed to make a more useful human, which then malfunctions and the equally bizarre and dark Killer, or Paranoid android with the dictatorship madness and Every bloody emperor that also has a go at how politics has and is used in countries. Basically both bands use similar dark, thought provoking and strange lyrics and incorporate them into their songs.

On the VDGG shout box, I made a comparison with Radiohead and VDGG, given that we are debating Radiohead being art rock and VDGG is one of the top art rock bands, I shall copy and paste in my arguments.

I don't think Radiohead is a "bad" band, in fact is better than a lot of mainstream crap, but i wouldn't consider them art rock either, they would just be alternative rock or something like that.

Writing that a tag is shit or ruined is just stupid. Nobody presses you to use a specific tag. If you want to have a "real art rock and no radiohead and so on"-tag then go on and create such a tag. That would be definitely better than to say that other people's opinion is just crap and only you know what should be tagged. Or even better: Launch a new site (called DictatorshipFM) where nobody but you is allowed to use tags... ;)

how is radiohead shit? fucking idiot. and I would consider them art rock because their album art is amazing, they have amazing taste in everything, they're all married to artists, and everything about them is arty and most artists listen to Radiohead. and they are experimental so shut the fuck up! grrr. oh and they're way better than Muse! everyone that gives Radiohead shit listens to really obscure bands that no one knows about LMAO and they're REALLY creepy.
