Am I the only one who can't listen to Malevolent Grain without Black Cascade and vice versa? Then again I often just play their entire discography when I have the time to do so.

If I listen to Black Cascade and compare it with Two Hunters, it's not nearly as good as when I listen to it as a record of its own. The point, obviously, is to not compare the records. That said, Black Cascade is one of the better releases this year. 4 awesome songs of dense spiritual vision.

Regardless of their "trendyness", as people seem to call it, I think its a great band that deserves a lot of the recognition they seem to get. I like/love all their albums in a different way, but artists/bands grow. Is musical progression such a wrong thing? I think they are excellent musicians.

Agreed. It's pretty worthless to even try to label things/people in that sort of way. @Nathankelley: I honestly don't think they need a bassist. I thought the band said that they were just going to perform as a trio.

honestly, I thought after they got a bassist they became horrible live. I've seen them 4 or 5 times and they have gotten progressively worse. On a side note, since WITTR is on the decline musically you should start listening to: "A Forest of Stars" and "Alter of Plagues".

The band's idea and the image they want to project is far more important than what listeners say or do. And pretty much a lot of bands are listened to by ''hipsters'', it's just a part of music.
