@ MostAncientOne; it's kind of funny that you mention that because all your charts are basically made up of bands that play the second wave of black metal, most of whom are probably highly influenced by Venom but not nearly as good in my opinion. And as for the evil parts of Venom, I think they mainly used it as imagery. They wanted to have a shocking image and create controversy; just take Kiss for example. Venom were way ahead of their time, not only with the way they wanted people to perceive the band (imagery, album covers etc) but also with their music.

Venom may have coined the term 'black metal' - but Bathory is the true root of the ideology and aesthetic. Seriously - Venom is just some douchebags playing cock rock, rolling around on stage like Motley Crue, acting like fucking rock stars...pathetic. The only thing evil about this band was their album covers...this is just painful and embarrassing. I've hated this shit since it came out...makes me laugh myself to tears every time I see some hipster wearing a Venom shirt, thinking he/she is so 'TR000 KVLT'. Fuck this poser shit.
