Pela primeira vez os fãs brasileiros de punk rock tiveram a oportunidade de assistir ao vivo o Anti-Flag, com o agradável "bônus" de This Is A Standoff como banda convidada. Com o repertório repleto de mensagens políticas o Anti-Flag mostrou na prática como se faz um comício para a juventude (muitas vezes dispersa): objetivo, claro e honesto.

Quem chegou cedo ao Carioca Club no dia 26 de março pôde encontrar os integrantes do Anti-Flag conversando calmamente com o público. Especialmente na tranquilidade passada pela figura do vocalista e guitarrista Justin Sane, que parava para tirar fotos e distribuir autógrafos. Calma e simpatia que acima de tudo são compatíveis com o discurso social do grupo de Pittsburgh, Pensilvânia (EUA).

Thu 5 Aug – No use for a Name/ Lagwagon

Het is een mooie, zwoele zomeravond en de grote zaal van de Melkweg staat in het teken van de punkrock oldtimers Lagwagon en No Use For a Name (beide al meer dan twingtig jaar actief!). Alle voortekenen voor een mooie avond zijn aanwezig dus. Daarnaast wordt het voorprogramma verzorgd door de Canadezen van This is a Standoff, die we eerder dit jaar ook al in het Musicon tegenkwamen.

Waarschijnlijk met de lange sets van Lagwagon en No Use for A Name in het vooruitzicht begon This is a Standoff een kwartier voor de geplande begintijd, en dus in een matig gevulde zaal, met spelen. Voor deze band maakt het echter niet uit hoeveel mensen er in de zaal staan, ze geven altijd een strakke en energieke show weg. Eerder dit jaar dus nog als headliner in de kleine Musicon, nu in de grote zaal van de Melkweg. Gelukkig stroomt het naarmate de set vordert wel voller en met een mooie mix van nummers van beide albums en de nodige dosis humor kan het publiek genieten van een goede opener. …
