由于对旧金山区盛行的乐风无法认同，歌手兼吉他手Stephan Jenkins决定寻觅一群志同道合的乐手共同创造属于自己的音乐潮流。于是在1994年，他与吉他手Kevin Cadogan、
贝斯手Arion Salazar、鼓手Brad Hargraves为阵容，成立了四人乐团Third Eye Blind心灵蒙蔽合唱团。在过去两年间，Third Eye Blind以态度十足但旋律却极为悦耳的摇滚曲
风，在旧金山一带累积了旺盛的人气，而连续为英国超级乐团Oasis的巡回演唱会担纲暖场，亦令乐团的知名度大为提升。1996年在众多唱片公司的极力争取下，Third Eye
Blind成了Elektra唱片旗下的一员。
1997年，Third Eye Blind推出首张同名专辑。向来秉持DIY精神的他们，不仅自己从制作到录音一手包办，就连专辑封面与海报的设计也不假手于外，出色的排行成绩也证明，自
陈深受Perry Farrel (Janes Addition、Porno For Pyros)、Camper Van Beethoven、David Bowie等前辈影响的Third Eye Blind的确不只两把刷子。简明畅快的
“Semi-Charmed Life”是专辑中的首支单曲，已获Billboard杂志现代摇滚榜冠军，声势惊人；而其余如描述失恋心情的开场曲”Losing A Whole Year”、情绪爆发力十足的
“Narcolepsy”与以吟唱风格为主的”Motorcycle Drive By”等都是值得推荐的佳作。不跟风、不盲从的Third Eye Blind已为自己的音乐生涯扎下了稳固的基础，这张精彩的处女
作不过是他们迈向巨星之路的一个起点。

They hit the nail on the head with their Greatest Hits CD, seriously couldn't make a better playlist, unless you added a handful more songs. Wake for Young Souls is badass, Faster, the list goes on, 3EB is the SHIT!
