一支来自纽约的乐队，成立于1999年，是由两个解散的乐队Jonathan Fire*Eater和Recoys重新组合起来的。2002年发行了第一张专辑《Everyone Who Pretended to Like Me Is Gone》，成绩平平（能迎合主流就怪了！）。随后乐队积攒创作才能，约定2年出一部专辑，在2004年由华纳发行的第二张 《Bows & Arrows》终于翻身，进入了 Top Heatseekers的第8名（恰恰这张没有“Indie”），今年又到了“Walkmen年”，乐队没有食言，发行了第三张专辑《A Hundred Miles Off》。
总体来说，The Walkmen 保持了一种复古的diy气息，包括吉他、鼓都“刻意”的粗糙，的确符合Indie的本质。在加上Walter Martin独特的嗓音，真像是一种漫步在荒原的淘金客的感觉。大家不妨一试，说不好听惯了华丽的吉他show的你能在这里安静的
