The Stone Roses曼城摇滚代表之一
80年代末期英国流行音乐进入低潮，曾创造英国新浪潮音乐的曼彻斯特，这期间也变得萧条。正当英国音乐将在沉闷中进入90年代的时候，一支叫做“石玫瑰”(The Stone Roses)的乐队出现了，1989年，他们的第一张专辑的出版，使英国“独立摇滚”(Indie-Rock)现象进入了新的时代。

　　“石玫瑰”受到乐迷欢迎最主要的是伊恩·布朗(Ian Brown)那漫不经心地演唱和孤傲、超然的性格；诱人的吉他演奏片段和起伏的节奏。不管是专辑中59秒的“我亲爱的伊丽莎白”(Elizabeth My Dear)还是近10分钟的“傻瓜金子”(Fools Gold)都显示了他们这方面的才能。专辑的前四首歌：“我要被崇拜了”(I Wanna Be Adored)、“她敲鼓”(She Bangs The Drums)、“大象石头”(Elephant Stone)和“瀑布”(Waterfall)清新简洁的编配和流畅的旋律使当时徘徊在乏味的英国音乐中的人们感到为之一振。

    @TheBeasley I think it's his style and ability to create such brilliant tunes rather than his skills. A lot of Stone Roses songs aren't that hard to play.

    I wouldn't call them a 'proper rock band' either. I think The Stone Roses are pretty difficult to categorize. They played an unusual combination of rock and dance. That has been done before (and after), but not in a similar way. And apart from the early Primal Scream (and a bit of The Charlatans and Happy Mondays too) I can't name any bands that come close to their sound.

    To scottishoasis quote "Proper fucking rock band" - no they are'nt.They mixed dance (disco) with slightly wimpy '60's beat based twangy guitar (compared to other heavier rock in the era anyway), therefore they are a fusion pop / rock band.Hardly a a PROPER rock band are they - wish people would actually think about what they are saying before blurting them out - however 'cool' it sounds.If you like funky / dancy / pop-rock no problem with that of course.Not the type of fusion I like personally.But if you are going to fuse those styles they didn't make a bad job of it I suppose for a while.Ian Brown's vocal's can be a little uninspiring at times also.

    While it is clear that Oasis was greatly influenced by them, they do still have their own great sound. Oasis had a lot more time to develop and experiment with different musical ideas.
