deathstar461, I think your argument is fundamentally flawed. to become "the gothic G'n'R," at first you have to be "gothic," or at least not to have a problem with it if having been labelled so. then you have to become mainstream and show eagerness to sustain this popularity via mass media. and then have to feel "an irrational hatred for former bandmates," which has never been the case of Eldritch I believe, who rationally explains the reasons why hatred if there's any hatred.

Sisters of mercy are the gothic Guns and Roses- being a band fronted by an eccentric lead singer with an irrational hatred for former bandmates, and who continue to tour and give shows that are of pale quality to their former glory despite not releasing a new album in almost 20 years.
