The Game原名Jayceon Taylor，出生于美国加利福尼亚州的Compton，他的个人生涯一样是从街头小混混的肮脏生活开始的，但是依The Game自己所说，他本人根本不愿意从事这些肮脏的活动，在小的时候，Jayceon Taylor只是喜欢打篮球，踢足球，和狗玩，听音乐等等一切好玩的东西，这也是他的奶奶给他起绰号“The Game”的原因。尽管The Game如此为自己申辩，但是事实是他和他的同伙们已经成为了正宗的街痞，而改变是从他上高中之后开始的。跟着他那帮兄弟，The Game也开始了一个小流氓的街头成长史。跟着这帮兄弟们的生活并不好过，The Game只能在麦当劳这类地方打工糊口，平时结帮的搞些打家劫舍收保护费的一锤子买卖。但是街头生活危机四伏，The Game受到了街头黑帮的牵连，就在The Game住的房子里发生了一起枪击事件，他身边的一个家伙被爆头，The Game本人也中弹险些挂掉，好在经历一段时间昏迷之后还是在医院中苏醒，几个兄弟又把受伤的他从医院拖回了住的那所房子。这件险些令他致命的事情改变了The Game的生活，自认“我本善良”的The Game决定从良，远离违法犯罪，如The Game所说，以免哪天莫名其妙的就小命玩完。The Game给自己指了三条路选择，一是说唱，二是房地产，三是回学校里继续篮球梦，选择结果是说唱。
最初能够影响The Game的说唱音乐还是2Pac，Notorious B.I.G.这类的帮匪说唱大汉，2001年，The Game决定和过去告别，全力发展说唱事业，几个兄弟也帮他负责叫卖他的唱片小样。受到了Ice Cube，Jay-Z，Snoop Dogg等人作品影响之后，日渐成熟的西海岸帮匪说唱者The Game决定到东海岸去寻找机会，最终被Dr. Dre发觉其才，2003年正式签到了Aftermath唱片公司旗下
