Nah, there's a bunch of new demos available online that will supposedly constitute a new LP. Unfortunately the link Jessssy posted has become a private video for some reason, but you can still listen to a bunch of the new stuff here: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/39579287
@groves89: I didn't hear Aufheben completely, but it is very special. Something completely new as far as I know. Howver, I think they are avant-garde. Because they did NOT steal some old music and played it as it were. They were inspired by this music, but their sound is different to all I have heard. And the lyrics are superb. Miss June #75 is an awesome example, or Cabin Fever. Both written by Matt Hollywood. They are really dark and I guess it does express the feelings of MH. But we shouldn't fight over some "status". The music is extraordinary in a special way and I (!) like it. I don't care about others. Btw, Led Zeppelin was not cool??? Did you ever see some live performances or did you hear some bootlegs? They sound live much better as on their records. I am sure they inspired a lot other band.
You can say they're derivative, but also a clear evolution of their influences. It's 60s-70s psychedelic rock played exceptionally in the modern era. Shit, I'd say they make music better than a lot of their influences did in their day... but they wouldn't be doing that without their influences... But to be honest, no band today would be what they are without their influences. No one is original. Repeat, NO ONE IS ORIGINAL. It's all a connected and evolving stream.
"avant-garde" isn't a genre. it's not a very helpful descriptor these days at all. Give it Back was the first BJM album I bought, since i was one of those losers who discovered them through their faux feud with the Dandy Warhols.
