I wasn't referring to you specifically about the expectations, that just seems to be the case with a lot of people and their dislike of JL. They seem to ride them off immediately because of the complete change from what the Blood Brothers were doing in their 10 years or so of existence, but I think there's a lot of quality stuff on the Jaguar Love LP. However I totally agree about how Johnny needs Jordan's vocals to balance his voice (and vice versa). The whole reason I think the side projects are nowhere near the quality of the Blood Brothers is because of the absence of that balance; Johnny's voice is too much to take in (see: annoying) when the vocals are all his, and Jordan's are hard to keep interest in without Johnny's voice paired and trading with it.

I wasn't coming at it with any expectations whatsoever. I've never done that when approaching a side-project or 'supergroup'. To me, Jaguar Love is trite and, quite bluntly, trash. I watched the video for I Started a Fire and I almost died laughing. Johnny couldn't act more full of himself if he was paid to. Oh, wait.. On another note, Jordan's voice cannot sustain a decent listen without Jordan's to create some sort of antiphony. The back up vocalists in JL neither add to nor subtract from Johnny's vocal parts, which is what I guess he wants, since that is partially what led to the Blood Brother's breakup. All in all, I listened to quite a bit of their material, and it's just rehashing the same tired 'synth-pop with an edge' I've heard from the last ten years or so. Nothing interesting or new. The other numerous projects I've heard from them were all so much better.

Jaguar Love is not horrendous. People just go in with the expectations of another Blood Bros and are shocked and appalled when they find out that, oh my god, they're trying something different!! If you want more Blood Brothers listen to the fucking Blood Brothers.

i could of lived with another album similiar to young machetes, but i cant argue that it was even close to being as good as other albums

Bachmann_3: I agree with you. Young Machetes is such a conflict for them as far as writing goes. Johnny wanted to do more poppy stuff and Jordan just wanted to keep working together like they used to, and that's why there are only 5 good songs on that whole album.
