I was speaking in terms of the legality aspect of it all, not quality. I don't think copyright boundaries are why we haven't seen anything new, and I used GT simply as an example. Hence why my post was addressed at inyouraeroplane.

it's not like they were actively working on a new album for the past 9 years... i doubt they really got serious on it until a couple years ago, and 'serious' for them meant fucking around a whole lot. oh well, it will be worth it.

Copyright law is killing this band. It shouldn't take 9 years to release another album, but since people want to be paid, even if you only use a 5 second sample of their work, we're still waiting on the follow up. The Napster backlash was the death knell for this group. Hopefully, they will release their next album in 2010, otherwise we're going to need to "encourage" them and the recording companies to let them release another album.
