@uglystar consistent? sure. great? hardly. people said twilight tales was all over the place but that's what makes a good album. it brings you up and down and side to side. slow and fast and whatever in between. trampoline is simply a really sad attempt at a pop record to make it through. maybe you like this new stuff more but they used to be a great group. just listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FI0qgVyshS4

I've seen these guys play twice this year, and I have to say that they've come SO far from their days as "that other band on Drive-Thru". All throughout junior high and high school Steel Train were that band amongst my friends that nobody could like or understand. Now, their live show blows me away. Jack has a stronger presence, better control and command of the band, and just an overall tighter sound that's more musical and innovative than I remember them ever being. My MOM came with me to the show on the tour with Dear & The Headlights/Forgive Durden, it was the day before Thanksgiving, so nobody else was around. She was completely amazed at how good Steel Train were. They went from being one of my least favorite bands to one of my most in a matter of a few years. I think that's really rad.
