Savatage was a progressive heavy metal band founded by the brothers Jon and Criss Oliva in 1978 at Astro Skate in Tarpon Springs, Florida. The band is known for recording many concept albums. Although they were known mainly as a progressive metal band, their origins could be attributed to classic heavy metal and power metal, as expressed by their debut album, Sirens. The band has been inactive since the release of its last album in 2001, and have not performed live together since 2002, instead concentrating on their more commercially successful side project, Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

thanks) I know and like Trans-Siberian orchestra but I never know that it is the same as Savatage. Very sad story of Oliva. Jon Oliva`s Pain is good band too . Oliva has a great voice

Gutter Ballet >> Streets > Edge of Thorns > Poets and Madmen > Hall Of the Mountain king >> Dead Winter Dead > Handful of Rain >> Wake of Magellan, imho. Pre-"Hall..." albums are totally different as well.

@ Ladylks: You listened to Gutter Ballet I noticed, perhaps the best thing to compare are Hall Of The Mountain King and Streets (both with the same vocalist). And Edge Of Thorns, Dead Winter Dead and Handful Of Rain with a different but simulair sounding vocalist. 2 Sides to this band hard Metal sound and the more balanced "operatic" sound later on.
