Santi White在宾夕法尼亚州费城，Germantown Friends School上中学，大学在Wesleyan University就读。读了音乐，非裔美国人学（African-American studies）双专业。SW的艺名是在80年一个朋友给她取的绰号。曾在Epic Records 唱片公司任A&R部门经理一职（representative），后离职为歌手Res的首砖《How I Do》创作兼制作。03年，其父逝世—生前为一名律师，死因与费城市政府贪污案有关。
Santogold 曾是费城的punk rock/ska风格的Stiffed乐队主唱。03年专辑《Sex Sells》，05年专辑《Burned Again》由Bad Brains乐队贝司手Darryl Jenifer制作。在乐队中，曾得到一个Lizard King Records唱片公司Martin Heath（人名）的个人签约邀请。07年，她最初的单曲《Creator》《L.E.S. Artistes》在网路上很热门。Santogold也出现在Mark Ronson 07年的专辑 《 Version》上，翻唱了The Jam 的《Pretty Green》。
《Santogold》专辑
Santogold和Stiffed 乐队成员John Hill 联合制作，完成了其首张专辑同名《Santogold》。本来预计Downtown Records公司会与08年1月发行，结果拖到4月。这张专辑（包括其B-sides和remixes）阵容庞大，制作名单如下：Chuck Treece, Cliffored “Moonie” Pusey of Steel Pulse, Diplo, Freq Nasty, Naeem Juwan of Spank Rock, Radioclit, Sinden, Switch, Trouble Andrew, and XXXchange。单曲《Creator》《L.E.S. Artistes》得到了很多好评，媒体Rolling Stone, Spin, and BBC都称Santogold为08年值得关注的一位艺人。在美国，单曲《Creator》，《Lights Out》被作为Bud Light Lime（啤酒品牌）广告曲，以及在英国，作为VO5美发产品的广告曲。《You’ll Find A Way》选入EA游戏 《FIFA08》 的原声；在姐妹游戏《NHL 08》游戏里，选入《L.E.S.
