I think it's pretty pathetic to hate on Nevermore since Sanctuary were being forced to change to a frickin' Grunge band. That's what would have happened if Warrel and Jim stayed in Sanctuary. Nevermore isn't the reason Sanctuary finished. Grunge is the reason Sanctuary finished. That being said, Nevermore rape every part of Sanctuary. =) Though both are good.

Remember that Refuge Denied it's a reference on Metal more that it's the Nevermore Death Heart... And BTW I like both but..Sanctuary have thoose albums that can go through many years and still kick serious ass...Like when we listen to Black Sabbath , Deep Purple, LZ,... or even Motorhead...Now days there is better but the raw music feelling wins...

Warrel Rocking it up in Both worlds. I'm taking a break from Nevermore. Nothing like some old school metal. Shame the fucking record companies pressure artists to do what sells. I think they should reform sanctuary! Rebirth from the ashes!

There are two things about Sanctuary that I like over Nevermore. First, the classic old school 80s metal mastering, something you can't replicate. Second, Warrel Dane uses a much wider vocal range here than he uses in more recent Nevermore releases. (Please understand that I love both bands.)

This is simple: some like Sanctuary more than Nevermore other the precise opposite, there's nothing wrong with that. It is called personal taste. Nothing more. It's your personal opinion to say "fuck Nevermore" but the truth of the facts is: Jim, Jeff and Warrel play and love Nevermore. Musically, Nevermore, for me, it's my personal opinion, is way more complex and appealing than Santuary. But that doesn't mean Santuary is better or worse than Nevermore, that just tells that, for me, personally, it is. Respect if you want to be respected, and listen if you want to be listened, otherwise you'll be exactly what you criticize.

I’m not saying they weren’t a great band, I also love their music, but they weren’t what Nevermore is. Nevermore ...oh my, that's something else, definitely not everybody's cup of tea. Their music is complex, you need time and patience to comprehend it and to appreciate it at it’s real value. But of course that’s only my opinion, everybody is free to choose their favorite.

LOL I love the Nevermore hate. It's funny to me. Anyway, Sanctuary are great and underrated. I'm actually surprised how fast they matured, considering Dane was only 16 when they formed. They were pretty serious pretty quick :P

Can't really compare Sanctuary and Nevermore. Nevermore is umm 'NEVERMORE'. Highly unqiue and original sound. Sanctuary on the other hand had a lot of prog/nwobhm influences and sounded somewhat similar to bands like Lethal, Recon etc. Still amazing nevertheless.
