I'd also like to clarify for those unaware that becoming familiar with the Operation: Mindcrime story is essential to the listening experience. Read Wikipedia's summary and then the lyrics as the album plays. If you don't do this, there's a chance you'll miss the genius of this album, and we can't have that.

midblowing prog/power metal. pitty they went to shit after 'Promised Land'. as a massive fan of USPM i can say that the debut EP is absolutely among the best shit ever to come out of that scene, if not THE best

Oh and Take Cover was okay too. Welcome to the Machine was fantastic, and Neon Nights was entertaining at least- It does miss Dio on vocals though. Speaking of which, does anyone else think "The Chase" was the best song on Operation: Mindcrime II?

@Breaking-Wheel- For me, it would be: Promised Land (great), O:MCII (v. good), Tribe (fairly good). American Soldier (rather good), Hear (don't much like), Q2K (dislike). The other albums are excluded as they're assumed to be in a separate league.

Well, their first 4 albums are masterpieces,the only one i really liked after it was Tribe.Promised Land was decent and if you count live albums, Operation: Livecrime is great as well.
