Сначала наше традиционное упорядочение по количеству прослушиваний и слушателей.

First of all, our traditional arrangement with respect to number of plays and number of listeners.








И тут, и там наиболее популярным исполнителем является Amy Winehouse (и, да, по личным соображениям я убрал из статистики Тома Уэйтса). Дальше начинается вполне классический джаз - Norah Jones, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong и так далее.

In both cases the most popular artist is Amy Winehouse (and, yes, I supposed it would be correct to exclude Tom Waits from jazz stats). Then the things go more classical: Norah Jones, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong and so on.




А вот так выглядит общая зависимость количества прослушиваний джазовых исполнителей от числа слушателей. Заметно, что чем правее, тем сильнее эта зависимость идет вверх. Таким образом, получается, что лидеры находятся на каком-то особенном положении у слушателей.

And that's the way, general dependence of playcount to number of listeners looks like. You can notice, it's bending upwards with growing number of listeners. So, that means, the leaders of our statistics are treated by listeners in a different way, than other artists.




Это также подтверждается графиком удельного числа прослушиваний (число прослушиваний делить на число слушателей для каждого исполнителя). Вообще, у джаза этот показатель оказался рекордно низким - в среднем 11 прослушиваний. Наибольший показатель у вездесущей Эми Уайнхаус - 32.

The graph of specific number of scrobbles (a playcount divided by number of listeners for each artist) confirms that notation. Surprisingly, jazz artists have very low specific scrobble number - 11 in average. Amy Winehouse has the highest one - 32.




Гистограмма лишь подтверждает печальный факт концентрации удельного числа прослушиваний вблизи рекордно низких значений, в целом по форме повторяя распределение для других жанров. Джаз умер?

The histogram just supports concentrating of specific number of scrobbles near very low values, repeating the histogram for other genres in general. Sad, but true. Is jazz dead?




Немного статистики по активности слушателей в рупорах исполнителей. Как видно из графика, какой-либо строгой зависимости числа сообщений в рупоре от числа слушателей не наблюдается. То, что более популярным исполнителям больше пишут, понятно и так. Кстати, Эми Уайнхаус я сюда не включил - взглянув на следующий график, вы поймете, почему.

Some stats about the user activity in shoutboxes. As one can see, there's no strict dependence of number of shouts to number of listeners. It's obvious, that more popular artists should get more shouts. By the way, Amy Winehouse isn't included here - see the next plot to understand why.




А вот зависимость числа сообщений в рупоре от удельного числа прослушиваний. Эми Уайнхаус и здесь лидирует, причем с шестикратным отрывом. Короче говоря, для джаза она - исполнитель, аномальный по всем параметрам) А вот если убрать Эми, то будет видно обнаруженое ранее явление: среднее удельное число прослушиваний является чем-то вроде барьера, разделяющего исполнителей с малым и с большим числом сообщений в рупоре. Посмотрим, что покажут другие жанры)

And here's the dependence of number of shouts in the shoutbox to specific number of scrobbles. Amy Winehouse takes the lead again, having six times more shouts than others. So, she's really anomalous for the jazz. And without Amy, the graph exhibits the property, found in previous research: average specific number of scrobbles behaves like a barrier, separating artists with few shouts from artists with lots of them. Let us see, what another genres would show us the next time)

Thu 7 May – Festival de Jazz de Valado dos Frades
Bem, indo para o valado com uma sensação de uma noite medíocre, lá arranquei para o local do festival... Felizmente, o sentimento, no final do concerto foi bem diferente do que era no inicio! Paulo Gaspar, Óscar Graça, Jaffery Davis e Eduardo Lopes, proporcionaram-nos uma bela noite repleta de Benny Goodman, com grandes solos por todos os elementos, até o solo final na Tiger Rag por parte de Eduardo Lopes.
Ao chegarmos à BIR, onde se realizou o concerto, já estávamos a ver que não arranjaríamos mesa, mas por sorte Marcelo Rodriguez bispou uma mesa numa parte genial, na frente lateral do palco (descrevamos assim...) e foi aí que nos instalámos com umas alcagoitas desde logo! Eu, não me movendo ficaria de costas para o palco, mas quando os "Masters" entraram fiquei mesmo de frente para eles! Ainda tivemos de esperar para que a sala se compusesse e só após concluída o enchimento da sala, Paulo Gaspar & Friends entraram no palco. Finalmente entraram! E começou o espectáculo. Durante aproximadamente uma hora ouvimos temas de Benny Goodman, e com preponderância de Jeffery Davis e Paulo Gaspar nos solos. Jeffery, sempre muito "virtuoso" mas com um groove espectacular. Por sua vez, Paulo Gaspar não virtuoso mas com solos, na minha opinião, de mestre e creio eu, por vezes não tão aplaudido quanto Jeffery Davis. Óscar Graça tinha pequenas intervenções, sempre com um baixo bem audível, e por vezes uns solos que no inicio passaram pouco desapercebidos, mas que ao longo do espectáculo foram sendo mais assumidos e melhores. Findada a primeira parte, houve 15 minutos de intervalo para se fumar um cigarrinho (para os que fumam), ir à casa de banho, que foi o que Ricardo Cipriano fez, ou mesmo ir falar ao telefone... Nesta altura já me tinha servido de um belo Gordon's, que diga-se estava bastante bom e que me acompanhou até ao final do concerto, dando um toque especial àquela noite.
Pois bem, terminado o intervalo os 4 Friends regressaram ao palco para nos apresentar um segunda parte que quem ouviu será difícil de esquecer! E foi nesta segunda parte que os solos, foram uma autêntica competição (acho que se pode dizer assim!), amigável de certo, mas uma pequena competição para ver quem arrebatava mais aplausos... E o resultado estupendo desta competição foi uma segunda parte genial, com solos geniais por parte de Paulo Gaspar, Óscar Graça e Jeffery Davis! Todos eles tocaram de uma forma única dando assim ao público (do "maior festival de jazz do País") uma óptima continuação da primeira parte. A segunda parte, não sei bem quanto durou, mas sei que foi mágica e brilhante... Jeffery solava no vibrafone com um acompanhamento corporal deveras interessante, depois era a vez "do Óscar" mostrar as suas aptidões, e por último entrava o brilhante Paulo Gaspar, e isto tudo, sempre com a secção rítmica de Eduardo Lopes, que apesar de apenas ter feito um único solo, teve tanto mérito quanto os outros, pois as suas intervenções, para mim marcaram pela suavidade e pelo acompanhamento, tal como acontecia no verdadeiro quarteto de Benny Goodman. Ainda houve tempo para deslumbrar as bonitas expressões corporais doutros espectadores que se abanavam de forma assaz veemente...! Mas enfim, um ambiente único, íntimista, familiar, excelente! Foi de facto uma óptima noite, muito bem passada, e só foi pena ter sido a única, pois para além deste concerto aprazia-me bastante ver o Carlos Barreto e o Júlio Resende, que infelizmente por indisponibilidade não foi possível. E no final do grande concerto, ainda houve tempo de descer até à parte dos cd's, que, diga-se, este ano estava bem mais pobre, com poucos cd's e com muita alusão, para descontentamento do Pedro a André Fernandes, conhecido pelas guitarradas à lá Pat Metheny!
O que interessa mesmo referir é que, foi uma óptima noite, junto de amigo, a ouvir excelente música, bem tocada, com muita diversão à mistura e para o ano há mais!
