When I lived in Spain a few years ago, I learnt a thing or two. I learned that Spain is NOT Mexico, as a lot of North Americans are wont to believe, assume, expect. I learned that Mexico is the way it is because of Spain -- The good, the bad, the ugly. I love Mexico, and I truly love Spain. One of the people in Spain that influenced me exponentially was a very beautiful person from San Fernando. I fell in love with her and stupidly messed it up... as I'm very good at doing. So anyway, she had great taste in everything, but I'm not so sure about her music, now that I look back. She had me HOOKED on Spanish pop. I don't know much else about music from the Iberian Peninsula, but whenever I hear Spanish pop, I wax sentimentally and am lost in nostalgia. Perchance I wasn't snapping my fingers to latin pop, I was out looking for something more in-country, more folk. After all, Andalusia is the birthplace of flamenco, and one cannot walk through any spanish town any night and not see flamencodancers and/or a spanish guitar, somewhere. So I'd sit down and have a sherry and watch the show. Such great music.

One other thing... There is another part of Iberia, a place to the west called Albufeira in a great country called Portugal. Such great people, great food, and great music. All those years of world influence has come back there in spades. Bossa Novas and Sambas from Brazil. But one of the best experiences is listening to Fado.

1. California Guitar Trio - Oh Christmas Tree (Traditional) это видимо, что-то типа нашей "Елочки". Инструментальная композиция на гитарах, такая же бесхребетная как большинство фламенко-нью-эйджа типа Али Де Миола и подобных.
2. Beach Boys - Little Saint Nick ну эти ребята вне критики)) А если серьезно, то неплохой поп... 60-х.
3. Bobby Helms - Jingle Bell Rock даже если у тебя скверное настроение и насрать тебе на праздничную суету, такие вот песни заставят даже самого хмурого буку почувствовать приближение сказки.
4. Darlene Love - White Christmas приятная праздничная песенка. Ничего определенного сказать немогу. Середнячок.
5. Burl Ives - Have a Holly Jolly Christmas веселая незатейливая песенка. Ненавязчивый, душевный, непошлый поп Америки.
6. Nat King Cole - The Christmas Song очень красивая рождественская композиция. Лиричная. Frank Sinatra Style.
7. Frank Sinatra - The Christmas Waltz а вот и сам Фрэнк Синатра)) Какое же Рождество без него? Это все равно что Лев Лещенко, по РТР - без него и вкус у оливье не тот))
8. Macy Gray - This Christmas (Hang All The Mistletoe) Вау! Потрясающая песня, потрясающий голос! Наиболее похожий тембр, что приходит в голову - Тина Тернер. Только тут болше свинга и соула нежели рок'н'ролла. Macy Gray поет о том, что она встречает рождество со своим любимым и безумно по этому поводу счастлива. Я прям вижу как простая американская хозяйка хлопочет праздничным утром, а из радиоприемника доносится эта композиция. Прям даже ощущаю отголоски рождественской атмосферы. Лучшая песня на этом сборнике. Буду искать Macy Gray.
9. Dean Martin - Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow название говорит за себя. Эти песни настолько пропитаны духом рождества, что одно их звучание способно принести ощущения праздника. Рада, что теперь могу послушать ее в любой момент, а не только в каком-нибудь американском фильме.
10. Lou Rawls - Santa Clause Is Comin' To Town блин не успеваю! Санта крутой мужик. примерно об этом эта поп свинг песенка.
11. SR-71 - Christmas Is The Time To Say I Love You - поп панк про рождество. Домохозяйки наверное переключат.
12. Andy Williams - The Most Wonderful Time of the Year - красивая вещь. Оркестр все дела, в рождество все прекрасно.
13. Christina Aguilera - Angels We Have Heard On High - ну это неинтересно. Завывания и самолюбование айренбишное, никакой рождественской атмосферы. Незачот тебе афтар!
14. Diana Krall - Jingle Bells джингл беллз свингуют.
15. Ottmar Liebert - Deck The Halls - рождественский мотив под мелодичную гитару.

16. Il Divo - White Christmas - поп опера. У нас такое будет исполнять николай Басков. А вобщем неплохо.
17. B.B. King & John Popper - Back Door Santa - Уе бэйба! Синг ит лауд! B.B. King крутой мужик! Песня одна из лучших на этом сборнике. Е-е-е-е бэйба!
18. Frank Sinatra - Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas а точно, Фрэнка Синатры здесь целых два. И это правильно.
19. Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Christmas Canon рок-опера. Приятно звучит, добавляет загадочности и таинственности всеобщей радости торжества.
20. Crazy Frog - Jingle Bells (Radio Mix) - ну... в семье не без урода.

Sourcing my library...

(I’m only scratching the surface really, since I have between 6k-7k songs on my iPod and 35k on a separate hard drive that I don’t even want to look at...)

But anyway, sourcing my library… I have several tags that are nation-specific. I didn’t tag stuff US, UK, or any other (primarily) English-speaking country (yet), but here are my favorite acts/albums by country:

ibiza – My ibiza tag is pretty voluminous, so I won’t go there. I did go to ibiza a few years back, and as seen on my dashboard, I love the chillout, cafe del mar-type music.

As far as world music goes, my favorite artist is Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. He passed the year I moved to Hawaii, and his life still is much celebrated over there.

I seem to listen to a lot of DJ-type music from germany:
