"Stravinsky, Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff, Shostakovitch are better" —because they are all so similar.

Rimsky-Korsakov was one of the most important composers of the Russian classic musical history. In his decades at the Conservatory, Rimsky-Korsakov taught composers who later found fame, including Anatoly Lyadov, Alexander Glazunov, Alexander Spendiaryan, Sergei Prokofiev, Igor Stravinsky, Ottorino Respighi, Witold Maliszewski, Mykola Lysenko, Artur Kapp, and Konstanty Gorski. Other students included the music critic and musicologist Alexander Ossovsky, and the composer Lazare Saminsky.

Rimsky is my musical ideal: a combination of beautiful, ferocious, epic, glorious and at times just hinted with the slightest tip of sadness. [2]

"I don't have to destroy peace and rebel against the gods. Our art, music, isn't even able to do that." - Perfectly spoken by this maestro. He truly is unparalleled, from Capriccio Espagnol to Antar to Scheherazade to quite anything. Absolute love towards his music.
